distance between knockouts

I looked at the bottom of the panel and I just see all concentric 1/2 3/4" combination.

I need to drill out one of the 3/4 to 1", just wondered if it is going to be close to their neighbors? I guess the hole is only going to be enlarged to 1-1/8" to 1-3/8"

As long as you get the locknuts on, they aren't too close.

The neighbor KOs are going to remain un-used, that is how I picked the location.

Use a knock out tool if you have one instead of drilling it.

Step bits work great for enlarging. Unless your new hole covered half of a prep punched k.o. Then I use my hydraulic k.o. Punches!

Once I was in a pinch and cut a hole with tin snips and used some reducing washers to clean up the hack

I've used 3" flat octagon cover plates screwed to panel's KOs of larger (1-1/2" to 2") instead of re-washers lots of times. The cover plate is much stiffer than the washers, and allows for better grounding when using conduit

Same here, I used 4 square blanks though. Did it the first time out of necessity since I didn't have the right reducing washers but realized how much better the cover worked.

Pretty much became a habit with bigger motors, 4" cover works great when they give you a 3" hole but I only want 1 1/2" conduit. I just punch a hole and screw it to the box with ground screws since they are thread forming.
