Good afternoon,

I have tried searching but I cannot find anything. That being said I picked up a Husky 60 gallon air compressor and it says that the tank should be 18'' from the wall.

My garage is only 12 feet wide so this puts pretty far into the middle. How far do you all keep your compressors from walls of your spaces, any issues? If I rotate it I can have the compressor wheel completely unobstructed by facing either the back wall or the middle of the garage for potentially better cooling.

My garage stays pretty cool as it's half subterranean and has a dehumidifier working to keep it dry.

Any suggestions? If you all keep it far away as the manual suggests I'll do that, was just hoping I would hear things like "10 inches is fine."

Thanks

Pete

Mine is probably less than a foot, and has been that way since I bought it 10-12 years ago. There is plenty of free space around the pump and motor, overheating has never been an issue.

If the fan is pulling air from the side toward the wall then space the fan at least 12" away from the wall... for good air flow cooling. Otherwise I can't think of any other reason for a restriction.

My CH 60gal comp was installed in 2000. Back (belt) side is only 9" from wall. The other sides are 2'+ from a wall. No issues.

Mine is about 6" from the wall
It is still on the wood pallet so I can rotate it to service it
The compressor sits with the large pully 90degrees to the wall

My compressor (Ingersoll 80 gallon) sits in the corner of my garage, with about 1/2" clearance from each wall. It's been there for 8 years. Changing the belts will be a ***** when the time comes, but otherwise there have been no issues.

Mine is maybe 4in from a wall, but the belts & fan are perpendicular to the wall. Never had any issues. It's oriented so the motor is closest to the wall & the pump furthest.
