DIY 2 ton Jack Press for Drill Chuck

I recently purchased a couple of kinda semi old (not chinese) Jacobs Ball Bearing Super Chucks (16N & 18N). Planing to service the chucks, and in doing so I would need a hydraulic press to remove the chuck outer casing. I don't have a press and I wasn't planning on buying a large press. More like it planning on building a small DYI press with scrap metal and maybe using a small 2-ton bottle hydraulic jack.

The question is if a 2-ton jack would be enough for such work. Appreciate your comments.

I would expect that would be just fine. This guy was able to disassemble his with a block of oak:

I have a one ton Horrbor Fright arbor press that I used to service some Jacobs chucks with.... Works very well

I have seen quite a few DIY grade presses that are powered by a bottle jack. I just did a google to find a pic or one but found a ton of info on building your own. Search 'diy hydraulic press'.

Hydraulic press are the fastest way to ruin a drill chuck. It doesn't take much. I use a small arbor press or a 2 lbs lead hammer and a block of wood

I took my 16N apart with a large vise.
