Great build!!!! You've given me some great ideas. Where did you get your trusses? I'm having a hard time finding some online. I live here in Texas as well.

Sorry I just saw this. I ordered my trusses through Foxworth Galbraith Lumber. They have locations in DFW but their truss plant was about 100 miles away from me but they were happy to work with me as a DIY'er and deliver the trusses. I thought the cost was reasonable and I got Exactly what I wanted. I was going to use a company closer but with their software they couldn't build what I wanted. Found both companies on google.

I finally ended up with a lift, I wanted a 2 post but after looking into 4 post with bridge jacks I decided I would rather have the 4 post. I accidentally ran across a used Rotary 4 post 12k on Craigslist for $1000. Only catch was I had to remove it and haul it home from 2 hours away. So I talked my friend into helping me, It took a little less then an hour and a 1/2 to get it loaded.

The guy I bought it from was doubting my trailers ability to haul the lift home. We wheeled the trailer under the lift, lowered the runway onto the trailer and took off the ends from there so we didn't have to lift the runways. Got it home and set back up that evening. My biggest vehicle fits so I'm happy. I'll be ordering a Bendpak Rj-6 to got with it and building a tray for jack stands.

Ended up buying a Dannmar 6000# rolling jack to go with the lift. Awesome accessory for a 4 post and love the air operated jack. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the Bendpak rolling Jack just $200 less

It hangs below the runways so I may end up modifying it's it doesn't. I need to look at it and see if it's worth messing with. Right now it sits on the ground and sticks up a little higher them the runways do when the lift is on the floor.

The lift looks great in there! Sounds like you got a great deal, too. Do you ever intend to park anything under the lift? or is it solely for working on your cars?

Awesome space and thanks for taking the time to share.

Did you go with a 'kit' for the garage? Everything seemed to be delivered pre-cut?

Only 1 car I own will fit under it and it stays in the house garage since it's my daily driver. The lift is mainly just for maintance and projects

That is a bada$$ setup man. Congrats.

Thank you!

Solid design and execution! Love the signs and the diesel power!!

Thank you, I love that truck and hope to never get rid of it. I would only trade it for a low mile, same year, same options, just a white GMC

Thank you, the garage was not a kit, the only thing pre-built/cut were the trusses. The rest was just normal stick built onsite construction. I'm a plan ahead kind of guy so anywhere I could cut a stack of wood to be ready for the next step was taken advantage of.

Wow, nice build! I am a slow reader when it comes to English, so sorry if you have answered this before. Are you planning some sort of hoist or winch to hoist stuff up to the attic? I made a trolley-thingy for a hoist for my garage and I use it a lot! Much better that carrying stuff up and ndown a ladder..

What do you call those wallboards/plates that many of you guys use both outside and inside of your garages, and what do they cost. pr. plate? We call them "OSB-plates" on this side of the world and the last time I checked they were 260 NOK (30 USD) for ONE plate that is 12x1200x2400mm (0,5x47,2x94,5 inches)..

Thanks for sharing, I am following this one!

I have thought about trying to build something to hoist stuff into the attic. Last year I was trying to carry material up the ladder, the feet of the ladder slipped, I fell off and broke my heel bone. I was out of work for 10 weeks and still hurt from time to time almost a year later.

We also call the panels OSB and for the same size as you mention the cost was around $8 (usd) per sheet. I used almost 100 sheets, your $30 vs my $8 would have added a lot to the cost of this project.

Ouch, breaking the healbone bone does not sound very good! Hope you dont get any permanent issues with that. With a price of 8$/sheet its no wonder you can cover an entire garage with OSB-plates! :willy_nil

I just wanted tp share some photos with you of my homemade winch setup. I used beams ment for sliding doors with rollers and everything.. This was a cheap setup that does not take up a lot of headroom. These have a capacity of 250kgs each, the same as my winch can lift on a single wire. The trolley is made of a piece of I-beam, and rollers for sliding doors. I have used a much longer spiral cord for the controls so I can control the winch from downstairs..

I like your slider system but why don't you mount the tracks below the joists. Seems like it'd be a pain to slide to another party of the garage.

Thanks. I have plated the entire floor in the attic exept between two joists after the pictures were taken. I only use the hoist to get things up to the attic through that hole, not moving things around downstairs..

I like your trolley set up and may do something like that in the future.

I shattered my ankle on the foot that broke about 10 years earlier so between the 2 injuries there is permanent damage. Doctor says an ankle fusion is very likely in my future when the pain becomes too much on a daily basis. For now it feels ok and only really gets painful when the weather changes.

I don't go up there very often and I can't really add a stair case without causing outer problems with my layout. If I ever move and build another shop with a 2nd floor a stair case is a must along with a restroom under the stairs.

I was wondering the same thing. That makes a lot of sense!

Subscribed - I'm looking at doing the same thing up here in North Texas. Your septic, is it traditional or aerobic? I was looking at your plans from way back in the beginning and didn't see the leach lines on there. I'm trying to shoehorn one of these into my property as well (about 30x40, if I can swing it) but the issue may be placement of those leach lines.

My septic is aerobic and the sprinkler heads were not in the way thankfully. I had to adjust 1 head to spray 180* instead of 360*

I know you may not see this for a bit, and I’ve read through your build several times and don’t see if you’ve stated this, but what is your roof pitch?
