Can u lag bolt the 4 x4s into the existing structure.? That would definitely carry the weight I would think

Thanks HPW. It's all finished. I bolted the side posts with 5 3/8" each into the structure, and then put in 2 metal braces connecting them further to the structure. In retrospect I should've used hex bolts w/ washers instead of carriage. But it seems to be holding so far.

used 1x6 barn siding, hd,1x3 for styles and rails, z brace in back for structure. built them 10 yrs ago

apologies for reviving a very, very old thread...

For those of you that a plywood construction, how are your doors holding up? Has the ply warped over time?

I should think if you had a strong enough frame, and thick plywood it should be fine. At least I hope so, because that's how I'm currently building my doors!

I'm also interested to see if anyone comes back on this. I actually went the other way with my design. Thinner plywood and all engineered woods with the exception of the trim. With the theory that more wood = more warping. I'm sure they'll twist a little bit but I'll install turnbuckles if it becomes a problem as well. I also wanted to insulate them as I live in MN and we can get some brutal winters.
