DIY Concrete Floor Polishing

They are getting ready to pour my concrete this week finally. I have been researching for months on different types of floor coating systems. I am about to the point of just spraying the concrete with a densifier and polishing it. The only thing I can't get a handle on, is what this will cost if I do it myself.

Anyone actually done one? I have about 4000 sf to polish.
I don't mind buying the equipment, if it is cost effective, rather than renting.

I don't see many options around the OKC area.

Thanks,

Root

Hi, you can get the polished floor look at 1/10 the cost and 1/50th the labor by coating with Coval which we carry. It comes in gloss, matte and satin finishes. Just sprays on with a garden sprayer and is resistant to fluids unlike polishing.

Full tech data, coverage and pricing and info are at these links. There are two products, first you spray the Primer which dries in 10-15 minutes, then the Sealer. If your surface is very porous, you may need 2 coats of primer, but that is unusual. You also need to use the acetone-rated sprayers we carry or a similar one that has the correct seals. A standard garden sprayer does not have the correct seals. Satin and Matte are special order, so please contact us at below to order. Thank you.

look up the malish brush concrete polishing system. It has several grits of steel plates and them pads. All you need to do is rent a floor machine. Its like sand paper, you keep getting finer and the shine increases. We actually sell this line, although I will admit I know little about these specific products bc we don't sell much of it to my customer base. Watch the Youtube videos

I had a pro install a coating and it only lasted 4 years. Never again

Reminder all, polishing won’t protect your floor from fluids, salts, etc. That is why car dealerships don’t polish. Even with a stain blocker, the floor can easily be stained and marked permanently. Polishing is great for stores, warehouses, etc, but not a good use for automotive. We sell Malish, but only recommend them for surface prep and removal.

I just read that article about the BallistiX on All Garage Floors - they said you sent them some samples so they could test it out and it did very well with regard to stains/salt and such. I don't work on the car in the garage much -- just park it mostly (any work is done outside) so would a polished concrete work well for me? What is mostly going to go on in the garage is woodworking related stuff.

Hi
Kindly resend this inquiry to us directly to [email protected] for individual support for samples and such.

Polished concrete (not topical protection from salt and fluids) is not the same as a Ballisitix or the newer Coval coated floor system which create an incredibly strong fluid topcoat.
