PTS Flowbench Technology is pleased to now offer a set of DIY Flowbench Plans based on the best info found on the World Famous Flowbench Forum

Since this is my first post on The Garage Journal this is who I am; PTS Flowbench Technology is a small home-based business working out of a 2 car garage. That being said I'm pretty much like the rest of the forum members here and like catering to the home-shop DIY'er since that is who I am.

My plans were inspired by members of my Flowbench Forum who asked for a set of plans which at the time I was not offering. The flowbench plans are highly modifiable and can be built on a budget by scrounging for parts or you can purchase all new parts.

It uses 2-8 vacuum blowers and is based on digital gages but water gage manometers can be fabricated (no info supplied in the plans but info can be found on the flowbench forum). The plans are fully supported on the forum for users who purchase a copy. The plans were designed with the DIY'er in mind as-in most of the parts/material can be found at a local Lowes or Home-Depot. Construction can be done with simple hand tools ie circular saw, cordless drill and router.

Also, be sure to checkout the Flowbench Parts we offer such as orifice plates, small radius velocity probes to fit in the smallest ports and other parts to help in your flowbench build. Checkout the new 3 sensor digital manometer project* we are working on (in the DIY DAQ area of the forum) to compliment our Flowbench Plans.

Don't just dream about owning a flowbench . . . using the Flowbench Forum info** anyone can build an accurate and repeatable bench . . . it really isn't some "Dark Secret". With a little "sweat equity" you can build yourself a very repeatable, accurate, professional quality flowbench for a lot less $$$$’s than you can imagine!

At PTS we speak Flowbench! We cater to all venues of racing, from professional shops to the average guy in his garage, stop by and have a look around . . .

*The digital manometer project is still in prototype phase but should be ready within the next month.

**Info found on the Flowbench Forum is free!

Well I didn't see anything in the "rules" saying I could not make my first post in the classified?

Did you take the time to actually look at my free DIY flowbench forum? Lots of GREAT info on DIY flowbench building and dyno info.

Moderator/Admin: If I am in error please remove my post.

Hmm, is it spam?

Let's see...

Is the poster primarily trying to help themselves, or help out the community?

I think that the answer is clear. The poster is trying to a) attract business and sell a product, and b) attract traffic to their forum.

To sway the balance more towards "helping the community" the poster should at least offer a few specific links ot exceptionally helpful forum posts, otherwise it's all just one-sided and seems like spam.

If it looks like spam, feels like spam, sounds like spam, smells like spam, and tastes like spam, it is more often than not, spam. And when it's not spam, it's something equally as nasty. Still, maybe we can give the poster the benefit of the doubt. What will most likely happen is that the poster will either contribute and participate in the forum, or he'll abandon the thread due to little interest, and never look back.

Actually all one has to do is view my forum which is unique like this one as it's the only forum related to it's intended purpose. I even posted a link back to this board on my forum a few weeks before I posted my "SPAM".

My goal is to get those people who work on their own engines a tool that allows them to build something that will not cost them $$$$'s in buying something commercial. I've had a lot of my forum members build a flowbench to actually use in their shop and never once made any money off them.

Take sometime to read some of the posts on my forum and you will see I'm far from SPAM! I get more than enough traffic to my site without SPAMMING other forums! I merely thought those who are DIY'ers here on this Garage Forum might find some interesting reading about flowbenches.

I have little contribute in the way of Garages as mine is a wreck and no where as neat and pretty as some I see on here, but I am a DIY'er and share my ideas on various other forums such as www.speedtalk.com where most of the industry leaders in engines hangout. If and when I'd have something to contribute to garages I'll make a post but until that time my knowledge is in helping people build a successful flowbench to actual use in their garage.

You're not seeing the difference though. Posting about GJ on another forum is okay, because you are in no way affiliated with its administration and have nothing to gain by doing so. You posted about it for the benefit of others on that board. Your motivation for posting about your own personal forum on GJ is going to be questioned - sure people here could benefit from your forum, but you are affiliated and run that forum!

"hey, I know of this store that sells cool things, and you should check them out."
vs.
"hey, I run a store that sells cool things, c'mon and check us out."

Unfortunately, most forums would see this the same way, and the burden would be on you to prove that you're not just trying to promote your products and your forum/site, by becoming an active participant or directly benefit the community in any alternative manner.

Like I said, though, you do deserve the benefit of the doubt like everybody else. I'm just trying to put things frankly and explain how and why many others would likely perceive your post.

You came here to sell your garbage, not talk about tools and garages. That makes it spam. Your whole post sounds like a late-night crappy info commercial.

I don't mind this post. Actually, it is quite interesting. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do.

Its not like people are going to visit there and not hear because they have similar target demographics. If that was another garage type forum, yes blast away. It is an entirely different subject.

I found it interesting, a homemade flow bench sounds awesome.
