I have the original uninsulated dual single bay garage doors which I’d like to upgrade while I install new openers (it’s time). I’d like to make some customizations while I’m at it - on one side I plan to install a lift so I’d like to run the door all the way up against the ceiling. To do so I think I could accomplish it by adding gonna panel and track as though it was an 8’ - 9’ door. The fabrication part isn’t complicated but I don’t know where to start looking for parts. I don’t see a lot of online garage door sellers...or I’m not searching the right way. Any pointers?

Thanks,
Matt

I've heard good things about these folks. I just had two new 9x9 doors installed on my garage today. I did a lot of research before I committed to having a local company install the doors for me. I paid them $200 per door to install them. After the $2600 for the two doors, what's another $400? I could have sourced the doors and hardware myself, but for the $400 I don't have to deal with it and they are warrantied.

I am the kind of guy that typically does all of my own work, hate to hire someone to do something for me. But this was one area I didn't find it worth doing myself. Pay the professional to sort out the fine details. Like hoisting those panels 12' in the air.
