New to forum.....

I am still looking through many threads... I am searching too but hoping to see if anyone can direct me to any good DIY Heavy Duty Storage Cabinet builds for my garage.

I am looking for an 8' unit that can be DIY and look good too. Looking for it to be 8' tall and 24" deep with doors.

I have a 60's style ranch with 2 car garage.

I am looking to add quite a bit of storage as my workbench seems to collect everything.

I'm also going to be looking for guidance on the floor too. I've done an epoxy finish before but it didn't hold up. Been looking at the floating decking but not sure how that mixes with snow and ice, etc.

These are not mine but they did come from this site. I don't have the names of the members or anything but I thought they looked nice enough to save for future reference:

This could easily be made 8 ft. tall. Though shallow - which I love for bottle/can goods, it could easily be used for hand tools too.

That is indeed the concept I'm after.

I'll snap a picture of my garage today. It is by no means a great garage but I work in it a lot and really need to make additional storage.

I've got many hobby's - right now I'm getting back into R/C Airplanes but I also am one of those Christmas geeks that has 250 thousand twinkle lights that are computer controlled so I need some storage for those items too.

My two big pain points right now is storage and the floor *****. I'll shoot some pics of the floor issues. As I mentioned I tried the epoxy and that lasted for a while but it's not a good long term solution for a nice floor. I'd like to consider the tiles but not sure how they'd hold up come winter.

Plus I need to do it on poor man's DIY budget. I understand I cannot cheaply do floating deck flooring. If I can find the right stuff that will look good and last I don't mind shelling out the cash.

I built some nice plywood cabinets which holds a lot of stuff. It required a handful of sheets of plywood to get the job done, but they came out really nice for DIY. They're in my garage gallery thread, but I'll copy them over here too. I never installed doors on them because I park the car so close to the cabinets - but I always envisioned going back and adding sliding doors to the cabinets some day / some how.

Yeah, I've tried locating cabinets via garage sales or craigslist and have not had much luck.

I want to build a set and have them look custom. sort of like what Dan posted a thread or two before yours....

I just need to come up with plans.

I've been looking at the Kreg system for building but wondering if it's really worth the price they sell for.

I do like these posted in this thread: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186358&showall=1
