I used a plating kit to demo the process to my students. The coating will be thin compared to an industrial plating process. If you are doing fasteners then in my experience the first time they are used the plating will be compromised.
We were able to get a heavier coating by pulling the piece out and gently rubbing it with some 3M scuff pad, cleaning it then putting it back into the solution.
Using a large power source does help but comes with it's own risks.
im also looking into this, have a box of bolts i want to rezinc, im thinking about just sending them out to somebody to do for me as the costs to get a half decent set up is $$$ unless you have the parts to hand.
Unfortunately I cannot transport to Colombia the "solutions" sold by eastwood or caswellplating. I need to make that solution locally and buy locally the chemicals. Any leads ?
Thanks
