I have been called Magiver on a few occasions by my friends while out on moto rides. I also have gotten decent at making something when I can vs buying. I can be tight.

One example is I have seal drivers and a steerer tube bearing race driver out of PVC plumbing parts, for my mtn bikes' suspension.

Tonight, worked the PVC again to make fishing rod holders. Cheapest I could fins online was 3 rod holders for $20. I built this for $17.

(1) 10' x 2" pvc pipe, cut to 10" lengths. Turned out pretty good.


will be adding a 12" deep rough cut pine shelf below them to house the other fishing accessories to get them off the floor.

What you got? I always like new ideas.

If I had a boat. LOL had a kayak for a few yrs during Covid. Sold it a yr or so ago. Pond fishing for now. Most of these are my son's.

One of my old drinking mates we nicknamed "Filthy MacGyver" [he was computer illiterate so he never knew what we meant]

He was one of those pissheads who thought he was a ladies man [yet used his personality for contraception]

The only thing that pissed me off about that show--which, IIRC, was out in my late HS years--was the complete ignorance displayed by those who thought that MacGyver was awesome because he could fix/improvise anything in ways that were actually IMPOSSIBLE. Not only were the writers of the show completely ignorant--and uncaring about it--but their audience was, too, leading to **** today like thinking spray-foam is a structural repair for rusted-out auto body frames....

anther thing you can make out of PVC pipe is a caulking tube holder(for 10 tubes) you start with 4tube bottom then 3 tubes above (either taped or glued), then two tubes, then one on top. I think you need 1& 1/2 pvc tubing and not sure about length. I had one but my neighbor saw it and I gave it to her.

Cool, but this doesn't have to be just about pvc.

I have some corner pieces of metal from my building left and one ended up being a nice little shelf for small boxes of nails I have, just had to slide it in between the pine boards on the wall. Temp use for now, but it works!

I broke an earpiece on my cheaters yesterday. I fixed them with cyanoacrylate glue and 3M electrician's tape. Since the frames are black, the fix is barely visible.

Did I MacGyver them or was it a hack?

I had a friend at work that was always rigging something , most of the time it was a great solution , others were a WTF moment . At some point in our work relationship, a “Jerry Rig“ became JIMMY RIG . To this day , 30 years later , there are several of us that still use this term .

The electrical tape is definitely a hack.
A professional would use shrink tubing.
