I'm looking to put a pole barn in the near future ( 30x56x12) and was looking at a DIY unit. Anybody have any experience with them? It seems like a straight forward, all material supplied system. I would also like to connect it to a existing concrete block building. any and all help & suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank You in advance
PS. They have a 6/12 pitch option for the roof (yes/no)

You will need some good help and lots of free time. Of course some guys drag their build out for a few years because of the lack there of. For the money, I would go 14' or even 16'. Gives you opportunity for loft/mezzanine in the future and can nearly double sqft available to use while leaving an area for a lift.

How old are you, good physical shape, lots of good builder friends, do you have the skills and equipment? With family help we built my shop below. I have the back hoe and crawler to help out but we still had to rent a gradeall and a bobcat to install the holes. I paid a couple of guys to help with the roof and siding. In the end I may have saved 20-30% of what the company wanted to erect the building. It also took many months to do and the company does it in a week. For me I would not do it again. The $1000 savings was not worth it.

I love my diy pole barns building. We built the entire thing by hand except the last 6 trusses. I farmed out the door trim but thats it. Im almost done with it now. Also i saved 10grand doing it my self. And by hand i mean it. We also did the final grade by hand. I have 16k total in the barn plus a ceiling. Its a 36x56x14h. So my labor costs are about 300 bucks if you count the pizza and beer.

Thanks guys, I am 48, old but not dead. I have a Bobcat skid steer loader and access to a JD backhoe, and a large Cat loader for free. I am a landscape contractor by trade so I do have some knowledge of other phases of contruction. I have 5 men that work for me and my neighbor is a contractor so I can steel him to supervise/work for free. I cant see it taking longer than a few days to set up the structure then add the metal panels at my leisure. I guess my main concern is that the kits are of quality. I will reach out to the one Co. I found and ask them to send me more info on their product. I feel I'm looking at about a 10g savings also. Thanks Again

I am a professional builder, and I would still price out my options before I made that decision. Especially for a pole barn of that size. Smaller ones are lot easier.

I built my pole barn with a kit from diy pole barns from Ohio. I found the instructions easy to follow and the kit was complete. I put my garage up three years ago and just ordered an enclosed lean to addition for it. Took to weekends for me and two friends. For the price they simply can't be beat. They were half the price as companies in nj. I was impressed with the prebuilt metal soft; nice thick metal.

My only suggestion is get the tallest building you can with the biggest door you can. I bought a 12 foot high building and bought a new boat last year. My radar arch on the top has one inch of clearance. It has two inch of clearance in the door width as well. My error but live and learn I guess
