Hello all! I just signed up a few days ago and this site is cutting in on my sleep time.

I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this company? I am looking at a 30 x 48 x 12 building and the materials list seems pretty complete to me. I am no builder per say, just a DIY'er. Money is a factor so I would appreciate any info on this company or maybe other options.

Going to be used for a shop as I work on my own stuff and like to play with cars. No buildings codes to mess with.

Best regards, Jeff

Yup, 30'x72'. Good company, zero hassles. Materials top notch. Can't say it any better.

The problem with any DIY pole barn is that we all want them big and tall.
And that means big, heavy stuff high in the air.

It soon makes sense that it is not a one man job.
For any kind of speed, you need a 3 or 4 man crew.

Money is always a factor, but time is money.
Do you have months or days?

Thanks for the good word about them!

Yes I know it's not going to be fast but I have the time. Will hire out the truss setting probably. The rest I think we can handle.

Best Regards, Jeff

I bought a DIY pole barn last year. and was constructed by one of their recommended crews (4 day job) Very satisfied with the building. The only qualification is the speed of delivery. It took a couple of months to get mine delivered (after paying for it).

A young couple near my Mom's house just finished a pole barn from DIY Pole Barns. I stopped on from time to time while they were building it and saw nothing but good. They are very happy with the whole process and the company.

I would get one from the same company but they won't do customs. They have some "floor plans" and you choose from them, of you go someplace else.

I was really close to taking the plunge on a kit from them. they had the best price for sure. my problem was trying to find someone to put it up. I live in iowa and even tho I can almost see IL there builders couldn't come over here. one tip I have... I was going to buy my kit from them with a chi door. it added about 1,600 to the price. I called a place that sold chi doors in town and my total installed was about 1,600. had I been able to find someone to put it up I would have purchased from them.

I used them for my 30x40 and was very happy with the whole experience of buying the building.

My issue was the local guy I used to erect it. Ended up costing me more and he was a hack. Go with their installers if possible, I have heard nothing but good things in my area about them.

just curious as to why you don't have to worry about building codes?

I looked at them when I had mine built, saw lots of good reviews on them but decided just to use a local builder and his materials in the end as I was not going to build it myself

I'm also looking at one of their buildings, Im trying to compare quality of product and price with FBI buildings, FBI being a little more expensive but if the quality is similar between DIY and FBI I'll go with DIY.

No experience with them, but I did look at their website. Pretty basic kit, similar to what every lumberyard sells around here. I would shop around locally and see if they can meet or beat the price. If you have a Menards, they have a kiosk you can go to and plug in your size, doors, layout, etc. and get a material list and price quote, then take it to other places to let them bid. That's what I did and my 30x40 was less than their quoted kit with architectural shingle roof, 2' OC trusses, and 3 extra doors...YMMV

Areas based agriculture don't usually have codes. I went to Menard's to get a price. I wanted OSB vs steel siding and needed stamped plans. It really confused them. They could only remove things from the estimate not smart enough to recalculate things of the building design computer didn't do it. Manager asked me the problem and I said I need stamped plans. He said trusses are stamped. I told him that's not what I ment and explained again. He told me to come back tomorrow at 8 that Dave would be in. I asked if Dave was a engineer and they were confused again

My drawings needed stamped as well. My local guy doing the erection knew an engineer to get them reviewed and stamped. It also was built with all the proper permits, inspections and to code. Relatively painlessly.

If I remember right I think DIY offers stamped drawings at additional cost.....

I got stamped drawings from them at no additional cost. That may have changed since then but the code here was very happy with the prints and materials provided.
