DIY self empty vacuum fab-need to seal spout-ideas?

I'm building a bucket head water pump drain, I need to seal a 1/2 or bigger, solenoid vale- I'm thinking of splicing the power cord so if the vac is on, the solenoid will be closed but-

What is the best way to seal this type of valve (the one I have, not set in stone-)
again a plastic bucket/tote?

maybe a 1" sprinkler valve would have been a better choice?

and a 1" bulk head fitting... but if 1/2" works for you I think they also have 1/2" bulk heads.

They didn't have normal open ones, do they?

pretty sure your google foo is not that weak to find a "normally open Sprinkler valve" or "normally open solenoid valve"

I don't think they do, that's why I asked. It's not 100% needed but I think if it drains when off, it'll be better overall.

So once I get it tomorrow, I'll see if this video applies
