DIY Trusses?

I only skimmed through this but is anyone weeks wondering why the op is adding trusses. He said he was having engineered trusses 4' oc but wanted to add trusses in the middle. Why ?

People at home don’t have the presses to install the manufactured truss mending plates.

But some people do. My neighbor "Bob" who goes on many mission trips building churches in some very underdeveloped areas of the world, has devised and built a portable hydraulic pump press that squeezes those nail plates perfectly.

He's been donating these presses to the villages he visits after the build is completed. One of these days I'm hoping he'll donate one to me.

He's slowing down a bit as he's nearing 90.

Back in the day carpenters routinely made the trusses at the job site.

After reflection and consideration of how the costs of labor and materials have changed; I would recommend professionally designed and assembled trusses be delivered to the job.
