DIY undercoat spray nozzle attachment

So I got one of those 20” or so extensions that had a 360degree tip on it for undercoating that you can attach to a spray bomb. Well this thing is an absolute mess to work with.

Looking to see if I am doing something wrong or what, but I’ve tried 3 different things to shoot through this, fluid film, rust check - the (runny type (red can) and more like fluid film type ( green type). Regardless of product this thing makes a complete mess at the top of the can where it basically pools the stuff. It does spray and get product out but I feel like it wastes more and creates such a mess that it’s not even worth using.

What’s the issue here? I’m sure I’m not the first guy to use this.

I had a similar issue last year with a woolwax kit.

IIRC the only solution I found was wearing gloves.

Even gloves, it becomes so slippery and hard to manage. On top of that it’s the wasted product.. this stuff ain’t cheap these days and the mess on the floor as it drips like blobs of it

Maybe too much back pressure from the thick product. You could drill out the tip of the wand.

I tried to make a home brew fluid film sprayer and failed. The real deal sprayer is worth the money and you save the money back buy buying it by the gallon instead of aerosol.

For sure. I’ve considered it.

So you’re saying drill out where it comes out from? Or the part that slides into the can itself (white head).

I recommend getting the $35 spray gun off amazon, i have it, and use the gallon container. I've found the fluid film out of the gallon vs spray cans lasts so much longer. I was hoping this thread was about making an attachment for the spray gun since i need one.

There are youtube videos of these make shift DIY setups. I guess you could always cut the tip off this, slide it into some other hose and clamp down to make part of your spray gun?

When I migrated from Fluid Film to Woolwax I invested in their "pro" spray gun, it sure makes applying the product s-o-o-o much easier. In addition I gently heat the product to about 110-120F to make it flow better.
