I'm looking at a box of TR receptacles and they don't have TR stamped on them.

Non-TR receptacles don't have TR on them.

There are many applications outside of a residential environment where TR isn't required or desired.

TR receptacles ****.

I believe they have to be marked in some way. I think I've seen them that have the TR stamped into the metal rather than on the plastic face.

You can test and see if they are TR. If you can plug something into them they are not TR.

No truer words have ever been spoken!

OMG do I hate TR receptacles. I have only come across one that did not take brute strength to plug something into, or even more strength to unplug!

That was a brown receptacle that I put in my garage. All the switches and receptacles are brown in my garage via the previous owner. Trying to find brown stuff was hard enough, as most places around me don't sell the brown stuff.

But I ordered a few online and I figured they would be just as hard to use as all the other ones I have come across. Nope. They work as if there is none of that plastic **** inside of them.

And these are Leviton brand receptacles. They appear to be no different than any of the other colors, like white, black, or whatever. And they were the same price as the other colors too. They just work better.

I've replaced almost every outlet in my house with TR outlets, as the existing ones were 45+ years old, and all back wired. Since I had a child on the way, it made sense to go TR.
I can honestly say I don't have any trouble plugging things in with the exception of a select couple outlets.
The trick is to wiggle the plug side to side a bit as you push. It'll slide right in when you get it lined up right.

Me neither. They aren't perfect, but far from the nightmare everyone here plays them up to be. I'd rather use TR than have plug covers all over the place

I'm also replacing all of the outlets in my house with TR, for the same reasons. Also because the old ones are that ugly almond color, and I'm installing white ones. I'm using Leviton outlets, and I never have trouble plugging/unplugging anything.

New ones are the bomb and keep babies from sticking keys into the little slot. Gotta have the plug squared up with the outlet. Insertion at an angle results in one prong hitting the slot first, like a baby with a key...

The first one I purchased was a GFI TR about 7 years ago and you could not plug anything to it without yelling. When I built my home 5 years ago, I use TR in the entire house and never had an issue. Sometime old appliances had the "HOT" prong slightly shorter - those don't work as they need to hit the doors at the same time.

Redid my whole house in TR Legrand outlets. Zero issues with the TR.

The marking is on the metal mounting tab, not the face plate.

Friend was just complaining about his TR receps, and mentioned that different prong length thing. Either I've never noticed it, or I've forgotten seeing it.

I don't know what brand are in my home, but they ****. All of them. For every appliance. It's in a 2013 David Weekley for the record.
