so, i was trolling for a couple loose sockets to fill a couple gaps in my socket set. i came across and bought an ACE hardware 3/8" drive deep socket set on ebay. i did the "make an offer" a couple times and got it for $15 shipped. i was expecting to get a nice little socket set made by danaher. they're $20 in the stores.

however the seller sent the wrong item. i received a "do it best" brand 1/2" drive deep socket set. it looked like new old stock and was dated 2000. i did some searches online and it looks like it's actually made by danaher. according to the "do it best" website it is a $49.99 set.

quick review - they're made in taiwan. the quality looks pretty nice. it was a "9 piece set" because it was 8 sockets + a rail. now it's an 8 socket set w/o the rail.

before i had done any research, i contacted the seller and told them i had received the wrong set. they refunded immediately and said i could keep the socket set. so, i think i won on this one. here are some pics.

Yep. Good deal. At least you contacted the seller, and made out well. The Ace sets aren't too bad, either. I have some, and put them through rough stuff. Their ratchets are good, too.
