About four years ago, I used craigslist (for the last time) to find someone to mud/tape and another person to paint our attached garage.
Long story short, this gave me a first hand look into the world of a meth user. I went out to check on the painter a few hours into the project and found that he didn't really tape things off... paint splattered on the garage door openers and even painted right over a couple outlets (so it couldn't be used without peeling the paint off). Spilled on our new driveway and just left a disaster. I gave him some cash for the days work and didn't expect to hear from him again... I get a call from his girlfriend the next day saying that he was "injured" on the job and had a concussion. It was just surreal.
Anyway, I finished most of it myself, tried to clean up and just left as is....
Fast forward four years and being very sick of seeing the crappy paint job every time I walk out in the garage. Found a reputable painter who charges a premium, but it's clear that he does the job right. Emptied the entire garage and they went to work today. When he's finished, the pros are coming in to put down a 100% solids epoxy floor.
Going to be a great transformation!
... and after a lot of planning and dealing with ridiculously high contractor bids, decided to GC the build of a detached workshop and breaking ground in a few weeks. I will post the plan in a separate Build Thread.
