Also, this can be done online today at acehardware.com as well. The coupon code is SAT50SAVE and you can also get free shipping to your local store.

I used the online this morning and have plans to use the print later this morning.

True Value has a 50% off $50 or less single item, but it appears to have only been in mailers or I got one at the front door in the sale flyer.

Combine this with the amex shop small thing and you could have ~$50 of tool for free. I dunno if Amex is still taking enrollment for the shop small saturday.

And yeah, the Ace coupon is awesome for all sorts of things. I got MIG pliers on the cheap one year and if nothing else I get a 2lb spool of flux core.

I bought these Knipex pliers for $14.50 since you don't see them discounted often. Again, ship to store if you have one close by to avoid the $8 shipping charge.

http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1291183

Use the 'sort by price' feature when browsing helps a little but you can only do that within specific categories (sockets, ratchets, adjustable wrenches)

You can browse Ace's listings on Amazon and sort by price to see if anything around $30 is of interest then go to the Ace site and search for the same item there.

Here's the Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_227?rh=n:228013,p_4:Ace&page=227&sort=price&ie=UTF8&qid=1353770978

To be honest, both methods are a PITA but when you're addicted to tool deals you just put up with it.

If you're a visual person you can use Google image search:

https://www.google.com/search?q=sit...g&biw=1557&bih=868&sei=O-2wUOfUHePb0QHtkYCYCQ

Which shows pictures of all items on the Ace site with the text "$29.99"

I couldn't get the google range feature ($25.00..$29.99 ) to work reliably but you can go to the google search page and enter:

Code:
site:www.acehardware.com $29.99

then change $29.99 to different prices pretty quickly. You can also add keywords like 'pliers' to the search line to narrow things down.

It's not an exact science, sometimes you'll find items that are only on the same page as a $29.99 item but it speeds things up quite a bit.

If you add this to the url search, it only gives you items between $25.01 and $30.00:

Personally I have gone with Kreg products lately.

I got an Ace rewards for 50% off last year and grabbed this: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3899277

Father's day they had a 20% off any item under $100. I picked up a Kreg jig.

http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3899283

Today online I got this: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3899289

And in store I grabbed this: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3899293 (in store price was 29.99)

Kreg never goes on sale. Anywhere.

Well, I got there too late to pick up a Lodge skillet in the size I wanted(very close to $30, natch); so I wandered about and ended up with a less **** but needed item...wooden, elongated toilet seat of decent quality...no slip, anti-microbial, etc. THEN, I filled out the ~$30 total with items that were either free after rebate or about 1/3 price after rebate. Not too shabby with the AMEX deal. $53 worth for $21 after ACE rebates...THEN the AMEX credit:D

It would also be a way to get into LED lights if you don't like the high prices. Also, if you haven't tried Wall Dog products for hanging pictures, small cabinets, mirrors, etc...they're a little spendy; so 20-50% off is a treat. Their metal 'French cleat' is pretty cool, but pricey.

Our ACE, Cedar Park, TX is also having a "Ladies' Night" that includes ONE item @ 50% off($50 max) AND 20% off all regular priced mdse. that 'fits in the bag'. No power tools included, however. It's Sat, Dec 1st if you happen to be in the north Austin area.

Doesn't hurt to have multiple AMEX accounts...DW used hers to pay for a car wash and hand wax...made sweeter since the 'auto spa' was too busy to hand wax today; so they offered a complete wash today at no charge as long as I paid for the wash/wax today. Essentially, a free $25 semi-detail, another semi-detail AND hand wax for sixty bucks BEFORE the AMEX rebate. Not a bad shopping day;)

Just went to my local ACE in Santa Ana,CA they wouldn't take anymore computer printouts. The manager said that the coupons are being abused. He offered me 20% off for a gallon of paint I had them mixed for me. So with my AMEX cash back I'll be paying only 25 cents for a gallon of paint.

That's ridiculous. At my store they had a whole stack of color sale flyers at the door with all three coupons (Friday, Sat and Sunday). Anyone could take as many as they wanted.

Anyhow, also browsed my store for awhile and finally settled on a Craftsman fender cover (something I've been wanting), $16.99 less 50% = $8.50.

I wanted an 1 1/2" ratchet strap but their regular prices were so high even at half off it was hardly a good deal.

It was a bust for me. Or should I say a scam...... The three local Ace stores are all owned by the same franchisee. Nothing Craftsman was allowed. Tried an Estwing hammer.... no go. They told another woman not good on a bag of bird food since....no animal feed. Guess it would have been good if I was looking for a garbage can or perhaps a roll of felt paper. I will be contacting Ace directly through an email to file a complaint.

It looks as though many of you here were able to secure Craftsman tools. Any tool at my store would show an asterick, designating that it did not qualify for the coupon pricing. It appears as though it was just a gimmick to get people through the door.:(

Same here, the local owner of 3 Aces would not honor the coupon at all, but the other store would. Not much can be done as it even says on the coupon only participating stores apply. Guess who gets my business now?

But I did get a set of brush loppers, needed them to clear the trails I promised the wife for the dogs this Winter.

x2. I've seen similar things with Napas around me. Some owners want the advantages of a franchise such as national advertising, name/brand recognition and pre-established supply network, but don't want to participate in any of the franchise promotions. If you want to be that way, just open a truly independent hardware store. You shouldnt' be allowed the advantages of a national franchise and not have to put up with any of the drawbacks, if you want to call them that.

My wife and I had no problem. I bought a caged work light, blue tape and hammertone spray paint and she bought flashlight and triple tap. We both used the coupon and had no problems.

For those with issues I think an email to ace headquarters is in order.

Just never shop there again, and order the promos online and pick it up in-store

I wondered about that today, as the cashier said we are "***'s", not "Ace", even as I looked at the Ace sign behind her. She said if the coupon scanned, they would take it, but of course it did not scan. I agree and thought the exact same thing about having the advantage of big name but not accepting the big name coupons......makes me wonder who takes the hit on profits.

Anyone know if the local owner pays the difference? The other store I went to was an independant, wanted to ask the owner but did not.
