Are these worth trying to sell on craigslist or just just toss them? I keep all my power tools in cabinets and if I need to carry them somewhere I use toolbags to do so! Trying to clear out stuff I dont use in my Geerage!

List them for free on craigslist. They'll be snapped up and out of your hair before you know it.

I have a bunch of them as well, I've been hanging on to them for years. Most of the tools stay in the toolbox or cabinets.

I'll may finally get rid of them to free up a lot of space once I do get around to douching out the entire garage which is hopefully in the spring.

Free section of CL... they will be gone in a moment. Just make sure you put in the ad they are empty.

See what you can get before you toss them...My plumber just paid over 50 bucks for a new DeWalt case for his combo kit.

Good advice!!! I'd hate to see someone get pissed off cause their not getting the actual tools!! I put a broke down Radial Arm Saw in the free section earlier tonite and was getting calls in less than 5 minutes! So when the guy comes to pick it up tomorrow I figure it'll be a good time to be cleaning my gun in the garage!! I just dont people anymore!

They are great urban camouflage pistol cases.

HMMM Maybe I should hold on to one of them! Ive been lookin for case to carry my Ruger in to the range. Cut out the insides and add some foam!
Thanks for the idea! Freak people out when I walk into the range with a Dewalt case!!

The bigger cases are popular with the dualsport motorcycle crowd as cheap storage boxes to hang of their bikes

but nobody wants to pay much for them.

I threw out about a dozen that my Dad has collected over his lifetime, for the minimum dollars they'd bring it wasn't worth answering too many questions and waiting for people to not show up.

You could always split the case in half and put the bottom in your toolbox to keep your drills and such organized.

I usually just make a sign on Word on the 'puter that says "FREE" and put items on the curb. With the traffic I have, items don't last more than 1/2 hour tops. I figure if teh next guy wants to take the time and make money from it, or use it, more power to him.

I help out ones by putting scrap metal, bags of cans, scrap wood but still usable to some people by the curb so the next person may benefit from it.

I have cut and altered (or removed) the interior blow-molded parts of some plastic cases to make custom cases. It is an awkward job, but a pneumatic cut-off tool (3" abrasive wheel) worked pretty well.

I would do that but I dont have a curbside to set them on. I live in the woods and share a driveway with several other houses!! Think I might take them to my trash dump area and set them on the side so someone can grab them.

I think I'll keep one of the Dewalt cases cut it out and place some foam in it to carry my Ruger in like someone else suggested in this thread! I have plenty of canvas and other type of zipper bags I utilize to keeps drill bits, allen wrench's, tire repair kit... in.

Yeah I dont think its worth the trouble to post them for sale or even give away. Going to take them to our trash site and set them to the side so someone can grab them.

The way I look at it, is Every one who shows up to pick up one for free, or little or nothing is some one who could be looking to steal stuff from your garage, Don't think people don't go to yard sales to case places to break into

We think alike. I actually have a guy coming to pick up a Radial Arm Saw today and I will be cleaning my gun in the garage when he gets heres just to let him know I am armed if he decides to come back. I live in the woods on 5 1/2 acres so not visible from any of my neighbors. Both my garage and house are alarmed!

Don't ask.
I cut the tool specific centers out and use them as cases for storing, carrying various things. I get enough on my own so I have no need to buy any.

My garage attic is full of blow molded cases too. I do keep and use the metal cases tho. I actually have 5 or 6 Dewalt metal drill cases where the insides come out. I use them for all sorts of portable "stuff". Glue gun, heat gun, hole saws, etc.

I agree with the comment about using caution when listing "free" stuff on CL, with people casing your workshop for what they can steal or at a minimum, seeing the boxes for the tools they now want to steal.

Loved the comment about using one to carry an actual weapon to the gun range. Wish I had a spare metal dewalt case for that.

This thread has got me thinking to just toss my boxes at the local recycling center for anybody to grab as needed.

I hope that Radial Arm Saw isn't a Craftsman. There is a recall on those and the company will give you $100 to return the motor and carriage. They supply shipping as well.

If it is part oft the recall, it's illegal to sell the saw.

"Federal law bars any person from selling products subject to a publicly-announced voluntary recall by a manufacturer or a mandatory recall ordered by the Commission."

I also cut the centers out and use them for carrying tie down straps. It makes it real convenient when I go to pick up a car with the trailer. Just toss it in the truck.

I've put chains in them as well. They get real heavy unless you only put one chain in each.

I've also been known to put ammunition in them.

small tool kits for specific jobs.
