Do those pressurized paint tanks work well?

Does anybody have experience with something like this:

I 've got a small compressor (5-6 scfm @ 90psi) but I think the pressure requirements are pretty low. Would this thing do the job for spraying exterior latex (properly thinned and treated) on my house, or do I need to fork out for an airless unit?

Thx

My dad did that years ago, waste of time. By the time you thin latex out to a viscosity the setup can handle without clogging the paint comes out almost like water. Perhaps if a smaller fluid needle, and tip with larger orfices were available as an option the user could change out you might be able to get a thick enough viscosity out of it to make it worthwhile. At least that has been my experience.

BTW, my dad used a regular old cup gun but I do not think things would be much different with a pressure pot, which is what is in the picture. Pressure pots do throw alot more paint quicker (at least mine does) and in a much wider spray pattern so maybe I am wrong, (perhaps due to their design they already have a smaller fluid needle to allow for greater paint flow out the spray nozzle) I would not want to do that to my setup. I would only use a HF special or the like for latex. My 2 bits.

Yea, that's kind of what I need to know. Does anyone have any experience using a pressure pot with latex paint? I'm not even going to attempt it with a cup-gun due to the issues with thinning and the tiny reservoir.

See if you can rent one of those airless units made for spraying latex. The good ones are pretty pricey and for the few times you would use it, would not be worth buying IMHO.
