Do you keep your floor standing drill press in a corner?

I'm curious as to why the benchtop DP was inadequate. Was it too small to work on large pieces, or did it lack power, speed, or chuck size? If only a power/speed issue, slide the head down on the post and put it on a mobile cabinet, or keep full height like Tarmy's rig. Easy to move around, pull away from the wall if needed, and store all the DP stuff.

I know a few times my bench top was inadequate due to size/shape of piece. It usually means drilling with air drill where im not always so accurate…

I believe my shop teacher did that for safety reasons years ago in middle school. Found out why later that year when a 4" diameter forster bit broke off and hit him in the stomach. I was standing next to him. He changed out a small high speed bit for the forstner bit and forgot to turn the rpm down.

How does placing the drill press in the corner of the room make any difference in that circumstance?
