the projects you are working on? Be honest now :)

If I worked only at home, and was restoring an old GTO Judge or a '69 Camaro... I wouldn't.

But I have to use the tools that earn my paycheck on projects I HATE, on vehicles I'm sick and tired of working on over and over again...

What do you think?

I have to say that I like my tools alot more than most of the stuff I work on. The main reason is having all the right tools to do the jobs easier, faster, and you can do a better job. I have a 92 mustang that hasn't ran in almost 5 years because I bought tools instead of parts but when I finally get around to putting it back together the way I want I will have all to tools to do everything myself.

Usually I enjoy the whole process. But, then again, I don't do it for a living.

Ditto that... the tools are just part of the process/project. To me building things/cars in the garage is a fun hobby and a skill that alot of people have never taken the time to learn. Kinda like photography... do I love my camera more than the photos? Not really.. but without the camera the photos wouldn't be. Or at least I'd be paying for the images someone else made.

Again.. I don't do it for a living.. like any job I'm sure you have a love/hate relationship with any car that comes in. You love that they break/need service and you can make $$ on it.. but you hate dealing with them after awhile :)

Does the phrase toolaholics anonymous mean anything.

Depends on the project, mine, or a piece of abused junk, someone wants a miracle on?
They are better then relationships:
Don't nag, lie, abuse, etc etc etc.
AND YOU CAN SELL THEM:lol_hitti

It’s a combination of both for me
I don’t do it for a living so I don’t have to do the same stuff day in day out
I did the rear brakes on my truck and it was such a PITA to get the springs off using pliers and a screw driver but I bought a brake spring tool and it was nice and easy to get the springs back on
This past Sunday I changed the oil and rotated the tires on my jeep and enjoyed every part of it except jacking it up cause I have a POS jack
I know I would hate to do nothing but change oil or rotate tires all day every week

I just like going out in my shop and doing something productive
Yesterday the funest thing I did was sweep the floor in my shop

Nope...well maybe...

As some have said it depends what I am working on. If it is my own trucks or project, the project wins.

When it is my wife's sisters car...tools hands down.

Tools are a means to an end.
They do not motivate me.
It's the work that I can do with them that does.

That's a hard question for me to answer. I don't wrench for a living but I started working in a service station and wrenchin' when I was 9 yrs old. I had snap-on credit at 10 or 11 yrs old. I'm 53 now and all my projects are my toys or the vehicles we drive daily. My tools save me money and time doing my own maintenance and repairs. My tools give me the satisfaction of accomplishment when I work on a project. My tools provide me with a means for my hobby. My tools provide a sence of ownership. I love my tools.

But do I love my tools more than the project I working on?

Well yeah, and no. It's according to if that project broke and it's giving me alot of trouble or if it's just something I want to do to enhance my project.

See I can't answer the question. It's a 50-50 deal.
