Do you mop the floor?

I see all of these beautiful garage pictures around here. How do you guys keep the floor so clean?

I've got a little epoxy paint on my floor - nothing fancy - but it's at least sealed mostly. My floor is always getting covered in globs of grease and streaks of oil from rolling back and forth on it all on the creeper.

Is there an easier way to clean up besides getting down on my hands and knees with brake cleaner and a rag after every job?

Funny story:

Uncle Sam and a military academy taught me to mop floors. I was a damned mopping machine.

A series of concussions later, and I bought a steel building with tile floors in my living quarters and gray epoxy in the main storage spaces.

I forgot how to use a mop! Seriously; it was just gone from all the experience in my head. I bought one, got the bucket, put the soap and all in, and then just sat there and stared at it in confusion.

Took me quite some time to get my brain wrapped back around the procedure; something that simple.

I do mop the epoxy now, but by itself it doesn't seem to do much with the normal Pine Sol. Spilled brake fluid sure cleans it right up, though. I need to find some kind of stuff that does a better job and isn't nasty.

I do mop my floor but I have tile. Friends of mine who have expoxy will hose the floor down then use a mild soap. That I do also. A great degreaser product that you have to dilute is called Super Clean. You can find it at Home Depot or any automotive store. It’s great stuff works very well in degreasing and cleaning. There is a dilution chart on their website. I use the O Cedar easy spin mop and bucket it is awesome!

I mopped it recently. Got a big wringer bucket and all. Looked horrible after as I just spread the dirt around. Considering a cheaper sweeping robot or a mopping one if they exist

I had a 14x20 attached garage at my last house I epoxied the floor and kept it mopped the first year or so. Lost interest in mopping and kept it broom clean. This house I built a 30x40 shop and I am not going to invest that kind of time. It's a workshop.

I'm lucky if I clear the big stuff out with a leaf blower a few times a year.

When I was in the US Air Force we had a 4,000 sq ft shop and it was swept, stripped, mopped and waxed every week. Fast forward 22 years and my 1,500 sq ft shop is swept and mopped every week. About once a year I get my large floor buffer out, put a scrub pad on and get rid of all my over spray, grease, rust from cutting debris, etc. No wax but I like it looking good.

Yeah the stripping of the floors is important. Not sure if it's needed for epoxy painted floors, but for ceramic tiled floors it's a must. Or linoleum.

I walked into a local Taco Bell and the floors were like ice -- so slippery. I told the manager that they need to strip the floors -- too much build up of soap. Dude's eyes glazed over and he replied "we mop everyday! there's nothing wrong with these floors!"

Spills get wiped down. Dirt gets blown out once a week or so. I keep most things off the ground and in cabinets so cleaning is quick.

I sweep it out after every project. Sometimes during a project if I start loosing tools in the dust. I really need to invest in a dust collector.

About once a year or so I do a full mop down. I do a lot of spot cleaning and mopping up after things come in the garage during the winter though.

Meh, sweep up every time and wipe up spills when they happen...no point in trying to keep concrete squeaky clean.

I mop my epoxy floor once maybe twice a year depending on what is on it. Once for sure in the spring after I know that the snow and ice are gone just to get all the salt from parking the vehicles in it off of it.

I usually sweep or wash out my tiled floor after doing work, if needed. I mopped my floor for the first time just last week in the 6 years its been installed.

Yes, with a large mop and wringer bucket. Always vacuum and/or sweep first and then mop with water and a little Mr. Clean or ZEP

Negative. Sometimes Ill spray it out good, sprinkle powered tide w/bleach on it and scrub it around with the push broom, then spray it out and squeegee it out. If it was a prissy garage I might would keep it cleaner but its more of a functional residential garage.

epoxy floor, usually wet mop it once a week (less in the wintertime). I'll lay a good amount of water all over it with the garden hose, then splash around about a 1/3 of a bottle of cleaner (Mr. Clean or pine sol). Then I'll wet mop it for a few minutes and let it sit for about 10 for any stuck soil to loosen. Follow that with a squeegee, then another rinse with the garden hose and either squeegee it dry or just let it air dry.
