Thk's - I am going to order a few drop lights.

Trust me their product is better than their web site… first click the link I posted and watch the short video that pops up on that screen, after the video is over (fast forward it) it gives you more options. Then you’ll see the video titled “long demo”and some other stuff as well like dealer both set up etc...

Ok this light has been on non-stop over 50 hrs still going strong,I think you can rule out the casement will overheat the bulb.

Update: still burning strong 88 hours non-stop... has not over heated. It's only warm to the touch.

Thanks for the update:thumbup:

What ambient temperature are you burning the lamp in? This time of year I'm guessing no more than 70*F. For me to have total confidence in it you need to repeat the test at 105*. Just typing that made me feel warmer. It's down in the 40s here BRRRRRRRRRR

I had a friend that was working under his care changing a fuel pump and he had a conventional trouble light under there. When it ended up, neither one was burnt but the car and the garage and components were a total loss. All it took was a few drops onto a conventional light to ignite the fire.

I've never measured it but I wouldn't be surprised if the outside of a 100w incandescent got up to the auto ignition temperature of gas. Or the cold gas might've shattered the bulb.

So pretty much any CFL would be "safer" than an incandescent and I guess one in a plastic shroud even moreso. But that don't make 'em explosion proof. IMO advertising that lamp as safe for use in a hazardous location is literally playing with fire.

Personally I wouldn't recommend using anything that wasn't approved for use around gasoline. Explosion proof trouble lights are kinda spendy but flashlights can be had for reasonable money. The cheapest are around $10.

Looks like a pretty good light. Ive spent a lot more replacing heavy service incandescent bulbs over the last few years.
