With the dollar difference are more Americans buying Canadian? Kind of thinking about this while comparing tool prices. There is a ton of great deals here when you consider the 30% difference in the dollar.

I definitely buy more within Canada now. By the time you pay the exchange, higher shipping rate, the exchange on the higher shipping rate and sometimes customs fees, it's just not worth it and it's most times quite a bit more expensive than buying here. I've made maybe 1-2 purchases from the U.S. in the past 3-4 months compared to sometimes 1-2 per week a year or 2 ago. Even Ebay deals from the U.S. that used to be a steal Aren't worth the hassle.

As for Americans buying in Canada more, definitely. One thing I have noticed is that used truck trade in values have steadily increased up here as American dealers are picking them up by the trailer load to resell in the US. 30% is a wide margin to play with. It's also cheaper to holiday up here now so I expect we'll see an increase in retail sales and hotel/restaurant revenue as long as this trend continues

The exchange rate has nothing to do with it, but if I ever make it to Canada, I'll be bringing some tools back... The Gray tools look pretty nice, and I can't resist owning at least one tool with the name 'Powerfist' on it. LOL

It is funny because we often get stuff delivered to the border and pick it up and bring it across myself. I was looking at gear wrench off of Amazon.ca and Amazon.com, the Canadian stuff was a huge discount when you consider the dollar. Then take something like Gray tools here, where a set of tools will run you $3000+ but when consider the exchange rate that is almost a $1000 savings for a high end tool....

My dealer told me trucks are scarce since the spring due to exchange rate!
Doesnt surprise me. I traded my 3/4 ton in last spring, got about $5000 more than I expected on trade and from what I was told, it was already sold (on paper) to a US dealer before I picked up my new truck. The only issue is the used trucks that stay here are priced high and it's usually almost as cheap to buy new with a 0% rate than it is to buy used.

Most of my ebay purchases from the U.S. get shipped to a member here's house in Michigan who then boxes it all up in a flat rate to save me on shipping. I've had a 3/4 full flat rate box sitting at his house for months because I can't find any deals worth buying with the extra 30% "tax" added on.

It was for me - I told the 2 salesguys (new & used) there were competing with each other!

#1 son works for one of the Big Three auto companies.

They started staying across the bridge in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario when doing winter testing at a supplier's test track (TRW/Continental?) in Upper Michigan.

Room rates are better, food and drinks are cheaper, and the Canadians offered them political asylum and a job if the elections go bad next fall.

You think you are safe in Canada? Trump gets elected he will probably try to annex Canada, and claim it is for humanitarian reason.....because Socialism is equal to devil worship to him

Canada  Socialism

Not as much, auto parts was a no brainer previous to the dollar tanking. Local store quoted cheaper than US by a few pesos on same alternator few weeks ago. I also see older trucks up for sale for stupid high prices. 10 year old trucks mudded up and a drive through paint job for unsuspecting victims.

Short answer, yes
Needed some Prep-H recently - found out the US FDA made them reformulate the stuff in 2010 or something. New formula doesn't work worth a fuzz. Talk about a pain in the the ****.
However, Canada has the original formula. So I bought a big tube from the Northern neighbor. Don't want to be caught without it!
