race cars are mostly SAE as well as domestic aftermarket race engines
and trans

New stuff like from ford or honda is all MM

I am about 95% Imperial with threads and fine measurement, because the industries I feed require it. I still weigh myself in pounds and I still cook in Fahrenheit and I still use a Imperial to measure.

I think when the large manufacturers in the US finally decide to go fully metric, there might be a slow change. I don't think the US is completely ready for the metric system yet.

The steel and lumber industry are still mainly Imperial.
The automotive manufacturing industry is mainly imperial.

Metre, Litre, Celsius, Pascals, grams, watts...

Canada made the change 40ish years ago. There is still some industries refusing to change.
