I would be surprised if that was $500 new; its amazing how overpriced things are on craigslist and how much people think things are worth! Aside from the pro/industrial line; I don't think Craftsman boxes have much of a resale value...

The seller inflated the retail value to hope to get someone to pay what he thinks the boxes are worth. Happens all the time.

LOL!!! It's just like the guys trying to sell tool collections whole on ebay, "$75,000 worth of tools" they say. Yeah right if it was really "worth" 75 grand then you could get 75 grand for it.

See that BS all the time on CL. Just a few days ago, someone listed a Ryobi Miter saw stand, they said they paid $300 for it, and were selling it for $150 ($50 over retail). It wasn't there in the evening.

I don't know if the idiot got flagged off (my hope) or he found a sucker. But it made me think one could do that all day, but what happens when you run out of suckers.:Gun1::uzi::gunfire: :yikes::rocketwho:shoot5::bigun2:

They come looking for you.

I doubt one could ever run out of suckers, but the suckers could run out of money...

When I see ads that ridiculous, sometimes I'll email the seller to tell them how full of **** they are. Just in case they thought they were getting away with something.

Wow, I was just thinking about starting a thread like this myself. I just saw a few Snap-on cordless tools on CL yesterday in scratched up, dirty, "like-new" condition with an asking price $300 over retail each.
