I would be surprised if that was $500 new; its amazing how overpriced things are on craigslist and how much people think things are worth! Aside from the pro/industrial line; I don't think Craftsman boxes have much of a resale value...

See that BS all the time on CL. Just a few days ago, someone listed a Ryobi Miter saw stand, they said they paid $300 for it, and were selling it for $150 ($50 over retail). It wasn't there in the evening.

I don't know if the idiot got flagged off (my hope) or he found a sucker. But it made me think one could do that all day, but what happens when you run out of suckers.

Wow, I was just thinking about starting a thread like this myself. I just saw a few Snap-on cordless tools on CL yesterday in scratched up, dirty, "like-new" condition with an asking price $300 over retail each.
