Do you use low profile sockets?

I've never had a need for low profiles. If I did stumble upon a random need for one, I think I would opt for a pass through socket/ratchet set instead. These could at least be used for a wider variety of tasks and still accommodate for the low profile requirement.

Here is a comparison photo I found with a quick Google search of two 18mm sockets, one standard height and one in a passthrough design.

I have the gearwrench pass through set that works for me

I use my SO sets all the time. Granted, I work on a ton of custom cars/trucks. Most of the time the people "engineering" the build forget about wrench clearance. Makes low profile sockets a necessity for some jobs...without taking the entire engine out anyway lol

I have no need. Flex head Gearwrench combination wrenches solves that problem for me, and yes there have been situations where that’s the only thing that would work.

I think I've just used a Gearwrench any time I've needed a low profile. What I really need is a set of un-chamfered sockets. Ive ground a few cheap ones flat just for that purpose.

I made a 1/4" set unchamfered using a lathe... Haven't started on a 3/8" set, yet...

I guess I'll have to search online to find a set of low-profile sockets.

I've got a couple adapters that work with ratchet wrenches--slip them into the ratcheting end of the wrench, and snap a socket onto the other side.
Ive used them several times over the years.
I could have used a short socket the other day, but didn't have either.

Probably not a frequently used tool, but when you need it, you're glad you've got it!
