I recently upgraded my box from a 26" Craftsman to a 56" HF. Wife was gone last weekend when I did it. Now on day 7 and she finally said "I can't open the drawer to get a screwdriver. Why did you lock it?"

The HF has the latches you have to activate vs the CM that was just pull it open. Plus all new screwdriver organizer. And I showed her the latch and not a word she just needed the screwdriver. Keep in mind she parks right next to it everyday. And she still thinks I just locked it and hasn't said anything about getting a new box!

Wondering how many shoes she wears that I think are the same vs completely different...or purses....or clothes...

Pics of old box vs new box attached.

Was she getting the screwdriver out to open her crate of brand new shoes she had shipped direct from Germany?

So tell me, who didn't do the noticing here huh?

Mine never notices new tools. But car parts, she's on it like a dog on cat ****.

My wife doesn't even notice a new motorcycle in the garage! Things like that are just not on her radar, I guess.

Much of my stuff is from Amazon and it's delivered while I'm at work and she's at home. So yeah, she notices.

She doesn't mind as long as I keep my spending reasonable.

Only when the Credit Card Bill comes. I have everything drop shipped to work...she just gets the bills. Hardly ever says a word one way or another.

Got no more room to hide the new stuff in the garage! Just own up on it and remind her its better than gambling, drinking, and chasing things.

^^Thats what I tell my wife if she says anything (its very rare) I could be spending money on much much worse things. It also helps when I show her some of the items that I have sold on Ebay and buy her things she needs with my slush fund money(PayPal).

My wife does the books for my shop. She sees every penny I spend on tools. The beginning of December she told me I needed to spend another $2000-$3000 on tools and equipment before the end of the year. In case your wondering, you buy diamonds for a woman like that

I get excited and show her my new stuff. She gets excited with and for me, but she doesn't care about new stuff.

I can't save money. So, I give her 80% of my check, and 20% is mine for whatever. She saves, I spend. It's a well oiled machine.

And....I can't get that woman to spend any money. I have to implore her to get something nice for herself. She's a simple country girl, and in her words "I don't need it." So, I keep my ears open and if she mentions she likes something, I'll research it and get it for her. That means a whole lot to her that I listen and care.

My wife doesn't say anything, as long as I keep it reasonable.

Bills are paid, house note is close to paid off, we have food in the freezer and cupboards.

She understands new tools form Amazon and HJE, she doesn't understand the collectible stuff from the fleas and swap meets or the previously enjoyed stuff from ebay

That means a whole lot to her that I listen and care.

Ive seen men married 25 years that still haven't learned that lesson.

Show me a man whose wife's happiness means more to him than his own and I'll show you
A) a blissfully happy man
B) a man who will never see divorce papers

When her happiness means more to you than yours, you're well on your way to deserving her.

I point out that without this tool or that tool it would of never got done. She relents and does not say much more about it. Its a pain being a tool *****. But it beats drinkin or drugs.

She doesn't have a clue.........

I once replaced the watch on the right with the one on the left that I got at a church rummage sale fore a dime.

She hadn't wore the good one for months and it just hung on a hook in her bathroom. We were going away for the weekend and I talked her into wearing it. She couldn't tell the difference. I could have been shooting a better shotgun. So tools she isn't going to notice or even care. Regards Barry

You sound whooped.
Sure I make my honey happy but she deserves me.:)
I'll never see divorce papers either. Over 20 years and no rings required.

If she notices my elevated cc bills she makes an appointment with a therapist for me to visit.Only thing is the "therapist" has a blossoming figure, but has my wife feed me prescription medications. The rest is history.

At this point tool purchases generally occur on an as needed basis (I know that's wrong - please don't kick me out of the club). That means an instant justification because something gets fixed.
I'm also so cheap that I squeak when I walk so I may not be the best judge here of frequent purchases.

Edit - Are you guys seeing a link on the word tool in my post? I'm seeing it and I'm trying to figure out if it's my computer or the forum.

Edit again - damn - it put a link on the same word in my edit. Notice I didn't repeat the word! Says link added by VigLink?

Edit yet again - I left the thread, came back, and the link is gone.
Edit yet again again - I saved this edit and IT'S BACK! I give up.

We have the same wife. These corn fed Ohio gals. :) She will spend $100 on a blouse or something but then get mad when I buy a $50 tool that saves us a $300 repair bill from a professional.

Sorry - the actual word was tool - not tools.

Edit - so far so good. However, I have a feeling that when I save this edit it will happen again.
Edit - and it did.
Edit - so I went to the test area and played around. Same thing. Came in and repeated on my tablet. Same thing. First system - Windows 7 and Firefox - second system Android and Chrome. I don't think it's just me.
Edit - except it didn't happen this time.
Edit - except it happened that time. AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH

Edit your post to say tool insanity and see what happens after you save it. And yes - I'm familiar with the definition as well as the practical applications
