I am working on some bmw's recently and everything is a fricking etorx. I have a basic etorx set, but I need a swivel. Does anyone know if anyone makes any impact ones?

Attached to my house as most are.... Lol
What if you use a universal swivel? Would that work for say with a extension of something? I know alot of those domestic cars have certain tools they specify for certain jobs on certain vehicles. The E Torx would be the socket with internal Torx or the one that's like a torx but with more point edges? Maybe I need to go refresh my memory out in the garage where I keep the kits with certain tools.

Yes, I ordered a set just like that, but those won't last with impacts, the pins fall out.

I need a set like this just in Etorx, but it doesn't look like anyone makes it.

Pretty sure sunex does. I know they have regular torx and hex key. If Sunex and Ko-ken don't offer it no one does.

I checked both Sunex and Ko-ken, don't see anything.

Kind of suprised they don't exist.

If any of the major makers see this thread they won't be far off.

I have VIM swivel e torx and they work great. They are not impact, but I really can't think of too many places that I've used them where I could even get an impact in the area...

I know this is not what you need, but since you're working on BMW's, just thought you might be interested to know these exist. I know the next time I have to work on the wifes Mercedes, she'll be contributing to my collection with these:

Mike - nice suggestion! I have some non-ratcheting VIM E Star wrenches that I bought for working on my Bimmer too. I was, however, frustrated when I realized that the most challenging bolts to get to are often times E7 which is not standard in most sets. Two steps forward, one step back.

Just something to be aware of.

Some of the bellhousing bolts on a 128i are E18, my E18 is a 1/2 socket, there is just zero way to put a 1/2 ratchet in there.

3/8 drive e18 available? Use a 1/2 to 3/8 impact extension. Or BMW may want it all to come out the bottom, then be split apart.

I have this one :)

I decided to just pull the motor with the transmission on this car, easier.

I will try to find a E18 3/8 socket.

My sons first car project in our garage.

Bad engine needs to be swapped out.
You might appreciate the VIM TMS77 set, still a half inch drive but shallow.

Awesome project for your son, are you putting a like engine back in it or making some upgrades?

Just stock replacement N52 engine. Its his first car, he just turned 18. Car only has 80k miles, but the previous owner didnt do any oil changes in the last 30k miles. It has solid chunks of oil everywhere. Full sludge, worst I have ever seen.

Here is the oil filter lol.

Whenever I'm using a universal, it's either because I can't fit my hand in there to turn a ratchet; or I can't go straight onto the fastener because there's an obstruction in the way. In either case using a universal, I'm always using a very long extension with it so that I can turn the fastener from a remote location. Point being: Universal sockets and long extensions are usually paired with each other in my operations.

Nice set, I've been waiting for a deal on the 106rtle but it's for smaller stuff. Good luck with the car, quite a project.
