Picked these up at an auction, didn't plan on buying anything like this but nobody was bidding and got them both for $20. Looks like they will make awesome blast cabinets with just a few modifications, what do you guys think?

Theres a door on the bottom where I can either store stuff or cut the wood and make a funnel to collect and recycle the media.

Sure is plexiglass, first concern but easy fix by getting some sheets of plastic to cover the inside, that or replace with some sheetmetal or wood lined with sheetmetal.

I see where your going with that...

I buy crazy stuff at restaurant auctions all the time. I got an all aluminum rolling 40 sheet pan cabinet that locks and sheet pans for 40 bucks. It retails for over 1,000. Anytime I need something I slide a pan out and get what I was looking for.

I am going to get a rolling dish cart to hold all of my scrap pieces of wood. I'll either get some big PVC pipes or use some MSD for my dividers to keep it separated.

I am all about getting a deal... Make it work for you!!!

You can get some CRAZY deals on some stainless. I got a 48" all stainless shelf for my pig cooker for 15 bucks. Depending on who's there stainless tables could go between 50-125. When your at the auction google is your friend to find out what stuff is new vs what people are bidding it to. I saw an ice maker one time that was at least 12 years old go for 1,800 before the 10% buyer premium. A brand new with warranty was like 2,200.

You gotta know when to hold em and when to fold em.

Yeah, some people get crazy at auctions, kind of crazy someone bid $300 each on 2 plasma cutters in bad shape when I got 2 Millermatic 135's for $300 for both in decent shape, and both work great just need some cleaning, paint, and a gun.... seen firearms go for twice what they're worth, other things people can't give away. If you have a way to haul or put the effort to hauling heavy stuff and have room to store stuff you can make out like a bandit. Concrete mixers that weigh about 6-800 lbs..(guessing) went for $75 each, they auction on sites for $600- $800 each sometimes, google/ebay is awesome for auctions, but everyone has access to it... the deals are in the "pop up" actions midweek because people have less time to research and not too many people go to them.

EDIT: some people think just because they "win" an auction they actually win.... even though they pay double what they should. Wanted a hauler cart that sold for $45 when you can get a brand new one at HF for about $55 with a coupon.... Research, research, research.

google and other search engines will tailor your search results to interests/your area/etc as opposed to giving you top results for nationwide things.

also, people can pay to have their results shown first for certain searches also, a search never means accurate anymore

You can get a real blast cabinet for under a couple hundred dollars at HF. Why mess around with that thing, which won't really make a good blast cabinet.
