i just posted a thread in the hot deals forum - dewalts mechanics tools are all on sale in sears, including the sockets and wrench sets. the ratching wrenches are down to $39, (reg $99, and about $70 on amazon) for a 10 piece set of offset, reversible ratcheting wrenches - which is a great price ($4 a wrench) if they are any good - at least as good as gearwrench's stuff.. so im really thinking of buying them just to use at home, since i dont have a reversible set.

i have non reversible, 0 offset ratching, and non reversible flex heads - neither of which it seems i bother to use since its annoying to have to flip the wrenches over, or the heads are too thick to use in alot of places. so before i hit "add to cart" does anyone have experience with these? it seems too good of a price to pass up, esp since they dont skip any sizes..

I bought a 10pc metric set shortly after they were released. I wanted the missing wrenches from the older GearWrench set I had. At the time, the comparable GearWrench set was a bit more. To me, they feel the same as the gearwrench offering.

Just went on Sears.com, either the price jumped to $72.99 or I'm looking at the wrong item. http://www.sears.com/dewalt-10-piece-ratcheting-combination-wrench-set-metric/p-00919501000P?adCell=REC_1_0

If its that price I would for sure get them. Worst case you put them up on CL for $50.

i just picked up both sets today.. ordered them online last nite. they are $39 each.. the website shows different prices depending how you get to them. (makes no sense) try the "local" sears site - or just goto the store.. the 3 piece set of professional pry bars is also down to $25 too.. my store dont have the correct price, but i had them check the price, sure enough $24

If they're both taiwanese they probably have the same mfg. Just saying. I'll go with decent import set for a decent price because they're reversible. I don't know of anyone selling a reversible set that cheap.

How does that size range work out to 10 pieces?

Thanks KC I just picked up a metric set at Middletown, you saved me a bundle. The sae sets seem to start at 1/4 to 3/4 including 11/32.

np - im glad i picked them up too.. ive always wanted the reversible gearwrench sets, but never wanted to pay the $$ for them. instead i wound up with a few other sets i really dont even like, and it seems like whenever i wanted to use them, the heads were too big, or was just too much of a hassle and grabbed a ratchet instead. what i think is nice about these too, is the heads are much slimmer than anything else i have.. plus its hard to pass on a $40 set that doesnt skip any sizes with 10 wrenches.

i gotta admit the price was so cheap, i was suspicious about them being any good..

i was ALMOST tempted to buy one of the mechanics tool sets since they are so cheap right now too, - but theres no way i can justify ANOTHER socket set..

That Sears in Middletown is my local Sears as well. Sometimes I pop in there on Friday nights while my gf is at the gym and the place is like a ghost town. I'm usually the only person anywhere near the tool section.

Thanks for the "heads up" kctyphoon! Deadsquiggles, do what I did, take the purchase info that kctyphoon posted into the store and tell them to match it! They did for me! Purchased SAE and Metric!

I picked up a metric set today! My initial impression is very good,.. at 40 bucks I think they are a steal for a new set of ratcheting combo wrenches. All of them seem to work perfectly, overall quality looks good, and the chrome is better than most of what I have seen coming out of China.

I especially like the low profile of these wrenches, but some may not like the thin beams that these have. I also like that they have v groove open ends, and I think I'd prefer the offset box end instead of a flex head. Only time will tell, but I think they'll be a good addition to my toolbox.

skang,

Browse to "Sears.com" and click on the graphic "Weekly Ad..view local deals" on the right side. Also on the right side, there is a search box. Type in "dewalt". Search through the results and see if the SAE or metric Dewalt ratcheting wrench sets comes up for the store (NOTE: If you want the metric set and the metric set is available for pickup at the store, Sears.com will not let you add the set to your cart. Sears.com will only let you add the SAE set to your cart. You will have to buy the metric set at the store.) If no Dewalt sets come up for your specific local store, click on the "Change store" link in the upper left hand corner and select another store. Repeat the search process.

Good luck,

Dave

Guys,

Check out your local Sears Outlet stores. Some have in stock the Dewalt SAE and/or metric 10 pc combination ratcheting wrench sets for $29.99 on the store's website. At the store, on the packaging, the sticker price is $39.99.

I was at the Willoughby, OH Sears Outlet this afternoon to pick up my set. This store had 16 more metric sets in stock. Here is the link to the set on the Willoughby Sears Outlet website: LINK.
