I’m tempted to put a power cord on it and see if it works!

Yes. I have one. Unfortunately, the curled end of the spring that acts as a blade clamp snapped off on mine, so it is out of service. Also, it's ungodly loud.

Mine came with one original rubber foot that was in the crunchy toast state. I snipped a few lengths of scrap rubber air hose to act as feet. Otherwise, put it on something that's not going to make it even louder.

I still kind of would like to get it back to working. My son really took a liking to the fact that it's basically kid safe if he wears hearing protection.

Oh, also, IIRC, it's made for the shorter 5" blades, and not the more common longer size.

Nice. You beat me. My son paid $8 at the flea market, because he wanted his own scroll saw. He cut with it for over an hour before the spring broke.

I'm 82 yo. I bought one new 70 years ago. I used the h--- out of it. Gave it to my oldest, long gone. But, I found one on ebay. To quiet it, there's a nut on the bottom which controls the amount of magnetic movement. Try tightening or loosening it if it's too noisy. Shallow throat, but remove the arm and the spring, fasten a 2" x 2" to a stud, fasten the spring to the 2" x 2", and you have unlimited radius. Very useful, for certain operations, eg, very intricate cut, especially in plywood.

Great tip! This is why I visit (selective) forums; the vast experience of the members and their willingness to help others.

Thanks.
