I ran across this on Micro-Mark and just wondering if anyone has one. It looks like it would be great for working under the hood of a car. If anyone per chance DOES have one, how much do you use it, and how much do you like it. I don't think $232.00 sounds too bad, especially if they have a taller sitting 4wd vehicle.

We have one at work, it's ******* for working under the hood of trucks. Beats trying to find somewhere to sit without stepping on stuff, breaking anything, burning yourself, ripping your clothes on metal... you get the idea. If I would have known they were that cheap, I might have bought one, the boss paid like $450 through one of the trucks.

Seriously, I often look at those at Princess Auto when I am in and think they would be a good idea especially for a lifted vehicle. I'm interested too in what others have to say.

I think I'm going to get one, but just wanted some opinions from some people if they have one or something similar. The last time I was under the hood of the Ram, I used an older step stool we have and unbeknownst to me, the metal legs had cut through the rubber feet. So when I was up and leaning over, the stool kicked out from under me. This looks like a great idea for working under the hood.

I have been using mine lately on the highest setting to bang out a dent on the roof of my superduty. Well worth the investment. I have the pro model. It fold up flat when not in use which I think is the major difference?

Used them for many years in diesel shops for the larger trucks. They are indispensible for making repairs go faster and (more important) avoiding injuries from slipping while servicing trucks. I've never seen it for model railroading but hey - if the shoe fits . . .

Looks like some anti-skid stuff on the treads. I like it but would be a bit concerned about feet slipping out behind me when leaning way in.

I'd like to see a platform step in lieu of the ladder tread.

Can sure see where it would be a lot easier to work on things with it though.

I remember wishing it had a joystick because something always seemed 1" out of reach. Climb off, readjust, climb back on.

I have one to use on the Ford PU. Makes working on the engine much better. Lately I haven't been working on the Ford much so it takes up room. Mine doesn't fold up so it does use a bit of room. I don't remember having a folding option when I bought mine but it may be worth the extra money. I suppose with it folded it will take a bit of time to set it up.

Great for old guys. A person can even use it while the engine is running to check things. It has some pipe insulation on the metal where it hits the truck to keep from scratching.

If I had it to do over I would buy it.

It's painted in krinkle paint, and has grip tape on the steps. When I use it, I don't usually stand on it like a ladder, I just lay on the platform, so it's hard to slip. It sounded hokey as hell at first, and while it's probably not an every day kinda tool, when you need it, it's freaking awesome. My first use for it was setting valves on a lifted Dodge 24V Cummins... I would have hated life without it. My boss bought it specifically to do head gaskets on his Duramax and likewise would have been really unhappy trying that from the ground.

I have a 6.0 powerstroke with 230K miles. So you can guess how much time i spend under the hood. I use mine all of the time. Being a "larger" man kneeling on the radiator is not a good idea. It is $600 when you crack the rad!

I'm starting to get touchy with my back, lean and lift, then regret for a few weeks, so I am thinking maybe a good idea even on a regular car when you have a long job in the middle, plus you can gets closer to the work to see what you are doing.

I thought the same thing at first but they don't adjust that low to work on a regular car.

I bought mine off Craigslist for $50.00. It is the style that doesn't fold. I use it on my 7.3L Superduty, and anything else that I need to "hover" over. Well worth having around.

The prior owner used it on a Dodge diesel before he got old enough to lose interest in working on it.
