I am looking to buy a dead blow, and instead of buying several Snap On head styles, the Blue Point interchangeable head one looked like its a pretty good deal:

I know that Blue Point is generally outsourced, but I cant seem to find this set under its original manufacturers name. Is this set made exclusively for snappy/BP, or is it sold anywhere else under a different name?

The 22 oz rating seems like it should be pretty good for all around use.

The blue point also includes steel and bronze heads, and I have the security of knowing that I can buy replacement heads when they wear. I think im going to go with it, unless someone has a bad experience to share.

Several suggestions, check out Nupla, (I think that is the right name) brand interchangable face deadblows. Additionally check out SK, and definrtly Proto for interchanging face deadblow hammer offerings, all are good looking USA made stuff.

my snap on guy had one in his tool truck and he just sold it but he said it is good for small usage but use for every minute because that interchangeable will be worn out quick then it still replacement by lifetime warranty. most technicians prefer seprate hammer so they can use one hammer for that job then other hammer for other job so dont have to change a head.....

Im not a professional, so Im not working on cars all day every day, just on nights and weekends, and out of that time, Im not contantly using hammers by any means. So in that case, to keep the number of hammers I buy down to a minimum, this BP set should be great. I can always add a few individual hammers if I find there are certain head types I am using a lot.

I actually have two sets, via a set of circumstances too complicated to relate. I basically screwed in one soft head and one steel face and keep the hammer in the bottom of the toolbox, and the case and the other faces stay at home. I've liked it just fine although the reality is I haven't really seen the need for all the small variations in face 'hardness.' Also for the price, you could buy a lot of craftsman hammers as you wore them out, and I shudder to think what Snap On charges for the replacements... But it's a very nice item and I use it a lot...

You would be better served with a Stanley one piece deadblow, a rubber mallet, and a brass hammer, and a couple of ball peins. It would be cheaper too.

I have it and a full selection of separate hammers. I use it solely for reassembly of clean parts. Seems to work pretty good for my transmission overhauls.
