The nice thing about Costco stuff in general is that they have an open return policy, if your not happy they'll take it back. I had a BBQ that was a piece of junk and a bakers rack that I returned after a year. BTW I just bought a big Craftsman Pro box for $999 on sale 2 weeks ago

I have two Costco boxes I purchased about 2 years ago. I had bought 1 box and I liked it so much I went out and got the other one a month later. They are CSPS brand. I have had craftsman, snap-on and cornwell boxes thru the years. In my opinion these boxes rank high for the price. The drawer slides are ball bearing and work well empty or full. They were packaged very well. I have not had any problems with at all.

I'm a buyer at Costco (in frozen foods, so I don't really have much info on toolboxes) but I have a friend who has bought a couple of these boxes and loves them. As noted above, Costco has a great return policy if you're not totally satisfied.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. And as for the large drawers, that actually looked like a good thing to me, since my Snap-on set has almost all shallow drawers, and I have a beater Craftsman unit with shallow drawers, too. Having something I can keep some of the bulkier tools in wouldn't be a bad thing.

A friend of mine also got one of those. He is happy with it, and I was impressed too.

Costco has great deals but the problem with them is that they are all 'one of a kind' deals.
Like the old Pic-N-Save stores, they buy a large lot of something, sell it for a killer deal, then when that runs out, there are no more.
I have seen boxes at Costco that were fantastic, at killer prices. Followed by complete junk at fair prices, followed by decent stuff at good prices.
The box you buy at Costco today has nothing to do with the box they sell next week.

Or last year.

The Vietnamese boxes they were selling a few months ago were god-awful. I mean, way worse than most HF stuff. They have a 46 inch long 'work table' at some stores right now. The drawers don't even work. The work table can't support it's own top.

Last year they were selling Torin boxes at less than a third what NorthernTool sells them for. That was a killer deal.

When they had the Hammerhead built boxes they were possibly the best deal on toolboxes in the country.

The CSPS labeled stuff ranges from Hammerhead to the Vietnamese stuff.
Brand means nothing at Costco.

The 100% satisfaction guarantee does mean you can take risks though. :)

I think I would buy the box if you need that configuration. It would be worth the hassle if you had to return it, and hopefully, it's not one of those flimsy poorly constructed Vietnamese boxes.

By the way, you are sure right on wanting fewer but bigger drawers. Over the last few years my tool box changes have all been to bigger drawers. Just plain old more efficient.
