You know the metal boxes? Im looking for a good method to store my 1/2 deep impact sockets and cant come up with anything. These would be perfect but i dont know if anyone still makes any like this.

They don't make those anymore.

I don't know if cornwell still make theirs, but other than that you gotta make one for yourself.

Why would they get rid of those? My dad has some that he must have got in the 80s, they are great for organization.

I really hate seing the old metal trays bite the dust. They over all work good and are so much better then those stupid socket rails, and those pastic tray SO has now a days, come on. Matco's rails do work pretty good, I kinda forgave them for dropping the trays after I used the rails.

I have these two re-furbished Mac trays with the lip on the side for hanging on tool cart etc.-believe one is 3/8 and other is 1/2. If anyone is interested PM me......Cranky:headscrat

If you carry your tools around alot the plastic rails are the way to go. However for in box storage the metal trays can't be beat. I'm pretty sure Mac still makes the trays. Snap-On has made the trays for a long time too but they don't come with the socket sets, you have to buy them separately at Snap-On prices. Nonetheless their trays are the nicest I've ever seen.
