I have some vintage cars, and each has a small hand tools set in the trunk.

One has this set.

I find it to be a very handy selection.

To be honest, if I need it, they will do.

But I drink at how low quality the tools are.

I would like to find a version suited for if I have an issue on the road, but with higher quality tools. Thank you for any information.

I have the same set, it's pretty awful, you're right. But I bought it for an overseas trip to Africa for work where Customs gets pretty grab handy. Anyway, I'd check out what you can get from Lowes in Kobalt or the new Craftsman. It'll cost more, but it'll be better.

I was thinking maybe Craftsman/husky/Kobalt, but scrolling through Lowe’s website, to get the same variety of tools and the same selection of sizes of wrenches and sockets, it would cost significantly more. Of course, the setwould only have to save a couple of tow bills to pay for itself, even at $300.

Thanksfor the links.
a lot of those other sets really frustrate me because the cheapomone has some basic electrical and stuff the others do not.

I was hoping I will be able to find an equal or better higher quality set-

It’s like the harbor freight one is made to be perfect for a car trunk.

I have to admit to grabbing a decent amount of gearwrench stuff when I am in advance auto for something else and they have the mega sales and stuff going on.

At the price point, they are the best I have handled.

You could always pick up individual pieces and make your own tool kit. I carry a socket set, and then a tool bag with other miscellaneous tools- screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, gloves, spare fuses, etc.
