Does Anyone recognize this type of tool?

I’m curious if anyone knows what this is/does? I’m guessing it’s some kind of tool for a machinist…

Doesn't look like one of the brands from the usual suspects (Starrett, Browne & Sharpe, Mitutoyo) but is likely one of the older brands. Looks useable, in decent condition, and should be oiled all over to prevent rust forming on and ruining the important surfaces. Light oil (not WD-40) on all surfaces, the inside of the case too.

MW in an oval circle… I saw this but didn’t end up buying it.
