Does anyone sell a bamboo leaf rake anymore?

My 40+ year old bamboo rake is coming apart and when I search the local stores, HD, Lowes, ACE, Walmart for a replacement, they only show steel or plastic versions. Are they just as good or better than bamboo?

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been looking myself for quite a while with no luck. And I will take the bamboo over the plastic ones any day.

We do not ship product outside of our immediate area at this time. All orders must be picked up at the store (in Ellington, CT) or delivered by one of our store drivers to an address within our Local Delivery Zone.

That would be a long drive for a rake.

I bet there is somewhere besides just a single agway store that sells that rake

I remember bamboo rakes. The good, old days. Have not had any in a decade, maybe longer.

I think that the bamboo rake, well, all leaf rakes, have been replaced by leaf blowers. Two Octobers ago, I had a neighbor in a rental house behind me that raked the leaves in the front yard; that made me realize that I don't think I'd seen anyone actually rake leaves in over twenty years.

I get my bamboo rakes at estates sales and auctions. Matter in fact I'm going to an auction tomorrow that has 4 bamboo rakes up for biding. I always try to stay stocked up on them. Only have 3 right now. only rake I use for leaves.

Rakes and rake parts are a sore subject for me right now....

Anyone have a lead on a 60" bow rake handle?

As for bamboo leaf rakes, seems to be plenty online but I haven't seen any in stores locally

Bamboo rake? Didn’t know such thing existed.

Another rake that seems to have disappeared is the double sided bow rake. Ours broke and it looks like I’ll have to get another handle for it because I can’t find another double sided one.

For me there’s just nothing that does the job like a bamboo rake. Maybe 3-4 years ago I was looking locally and even then the selection was mighty slim; went online and bought a box of 6 from A.M. Leonard Co.
I was gonna recommend going that route, BUT…. dang it, looks like they no longer have them in the online catalog.

I have bought a number of tool handles from House Handle Company. They have some unusual ones too (I looked for years for a round-profile handle for my strawberry hoe, and found it there).

I bought one at Ace hardware a few months ago. Just try a different Ace. There's a huge difference among Ace stores.
