I have an older Gray socket where the chrome is coming off the end (not due to rust, no visible scratch marks, not "worn off")

Just wondering if anyone has tried warrantying something like this. Thought I'd ask before driving down to a distrbutor and making a fool out of myself :)

I've found warranty on Gray to be hit and miss.If it's broken they'll replace it but I have also been told something is worn out not broken. No warranty for wear. It's more of an industrial brand so cosmetics are not the highest priority. If the chrome is flaking you may be able to convince them to warranty it by saying you're scared to use it for engine work because you may leave chrome flakes in the engine.

Tell them that it is a safety issue. That flaking chrome will cut you like a razor blade if you are holding the socket while turning it.
