Does Sears exchange ratchets with owner markings?

I figure most tools ACTUALLY cost Sears pennies, and by you coming back to exchange it, they have you in the door, and ready to sell you more tools. I used to "abuse" the warranty by buying them used and getting them replaced, but now it is not really worth my time.

Yeah they will replace it, I use to break a tool just to have a reason to go to Sears and buy more. I still can't get out of that place without buying something.

The only differance is we are honest about it. It kills me the people that tell you that you are the reason 1000's of American jobs have gone overseas but yet we actaully buy our tools at a store where it keeps people in a job. The the same people who flame you want you to send them money for their tools via payPal Gift so they don't have to pay the fees. Lots of Hypocrites in the world.

Maybe I should put a Craftsman label on it and see if I can get it warrantied?

You know, I have a Roscoe screwdriver that looks identical to Craftsman, I thought it was until I investigated a bit. I should see if they will take it, just for laughs. Nah, I can't screw em that much, yet I can't screw with the driver anymore either, ah well, it is time to throw it away me thinks.

I learned on the last one of these not to take sides, but I don’t think the replacement tools Craftsman gives out makes a difference in their profits. They are too high volume. To answer the original question I think if you ask Sears to replace a tool as it has past owner marks they will refuse to do the exchange but if you tell them you want to exchange a tool without giving them the reason they will. I am always amazed at passions running high on points of view on something like a tool return to a major company.

I guess I just don't understand engraving a Cman ratchet? Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of em..... but its not like its a F80 or anything? Guess people will swipe anything right?

People used to buy things because they were sure it would last a lifetime. Those people who buy tools with no intetion on selling them will mark them. I use to do it to all my tools. Not only did it save me from having to argue with others over who's tool it is but it also allowed me to recover a few stolen items as well. I use to buy a tool with intentions of keeping it forever. Now not so much. So many times a tool turns out to be such a total peice of **** that I have no intentions of keeping it. On some of my expensive ratchets. I'll mark them in such a manner that you would have to do some disassembly to see the marking.
