does the Etch o matic work?

I would like to engrave some information on some metal (steel and aluminum). I came across a product called Etch-o-Matic. Some of the reviews were not kind ("you need a typewriter!" I doubt that, but...), but the product has been around for 40 years so it must work on some level.

Anyone ever use one and have any thoughts and examples of what this does?

I do not want to use metal stamps or a manual engraver. I want the text to look neat, straight, and type-written. I might also want to put a personal logo on there as well.

I believe its just electrochemical engraving. Pretty common in industry. Lots of videos of the process.
