Huh? He sells detailing supplies, tools, and tool storage. Would you buy this sort of stuff from someone with a beat up car and a messy garage? Rusty tools? Are you seriously conflating marketing with a legit mental health issue?

He's providing an example of what your garage COULD look like. Its a fantasy set up with fantasy vehicles in it. People see that and will be inspired to organize their garages.

For me personally, I took the wife and kids on a side trip to Stuttgart to visit the Porsche Factory. In the museum, at the end of the ticket counter is a glass wall behind which, technicians restore cars. This isn't exactly the view, but from memory, its something like this:


Note wooden saw horses used to support this 917. I dig the white toolboxes, lighting, gray tile(?) floor. Everything is on wheels (makes sense). The parts rack looks like something I think I'd make if a do a build. The white a gray theme is pretty consistent with Porsche. And its deliberate.

I've never been to the Ferrari factory, but it famously has plants (because why not?). I spy what looks like gray Lista boxes left background.


Penske Racing in NC:

Classic Snap on red KRLs supported by multiple carts at each bay. Classic old school racing look. I love the idea of having more than 1 cart surrounding the vehicle. I could totally see doing something like this.

POINT IS: My future stoney garage (may call it "Castle Wolfenstein") won't look anything like these garages. But it probably will be inspired by all of them. Maybe a bit more drawer organization than I have now, maybe house plants, probably multiple roll carts for the very different things I work on. And maybe more wooden stuff, just based on that one picture.

Obsessed garage offers garage specific products that I might explore. He's put a lot of effort into thinking through what he sells. Yeah, he's not a mechanic, he's a business owner. Get over it.

Holy Mother does a bear **** in the woods, that GJ member has full blown OCD. I had to see for myself, dang I would love for him to see my man cave, no heat in the dead of winter, no air conditioning, when it rains it floods, rats, mice and other beasties live in there, grease and oil out the yazoo, man he would be at home in my man cave!

I guess if you have the funds go for it, I would in a heartbeat, gosh it looks so clean you could eat off the floors and he has one of those big old color tv screens, that's wild. I wonder if he would let me smoke a cigar in his man cave. Maybe not.

Probably just a touch of it, but he an attention to detail that many strive for.
if he fixing clapped out rust buckets for his neighbors? Absolutely not. Does his opinion carry more weight then other on tool types? Not really, not in my eyes. Have I gotten some knowledge and tips for organizing and setting up a car cleaning area? Sure have.

I will admit though, I have watched a few videos only part way because it was a little too much.

He does indeed have clinical OCD, as well as some condition that gives him panic attacks when driving (ironically). He talks about it every once in a while during his wash and talks. He’s been battling the panic attacks for many years and has tried many different therapies, apparently unsuccessfully.

Definitely on the egotistical/arrogant side but he’s built a multi million dollar business out of his idiosyncrasies and built a cult following.

I'm a DIY'er and fortunate to have found a local Snap-On dealer. He's great and his truck is always very well stocked and if I want something he doesn't have on the truck, he'll source it promptly. I meet with him weekly and typically drop around $500 per visit. Orange is my favorite color and they have LOTS of orange tools...

"Obsessed" is literally in the name of the Business/Channel.

I have watched his buddy Mike install the floor tiles/hoists and stuff in a few shops and it's informative, I'm not particularly interested in the detailing content or the sports cars but it's the guys business, they sell high end garage products and bespoke garage packages to wealthy car fanatics.

He flexed that he went on one of the tool trucks and literally bought his entire inventory and put it on his Amex card and then sells off most of it, as it doesn't meet his standards, for pennies on the dollar. I wasn't bragging, just stating that my quest for orange Snap-On tools is an expensive endeavor.

My 4 YO son is non verbal autistic. I can honestly say there is good chunk of people in the vise thread that are high functioning autistic...

A doctor gave me examples of autistic tendencies and examples when they gave me his diagnosis. One of these examples was "a person might have a really high knowledge of sports statistics but has never played the sport and has no interest in trying it".... now apply that to this entire website and see what you find.

One of his vids about organizing his new setup popped up a few days ago. I was bored , so I watched it. I think his channel should be changed to OCD garage. Also, has anyone looked up what one of those box/cabinet setups cost? Looks like around $25K for a smaller setup than he has. He even has more boxes/cabinets sitting in his shop still wrapped up. Holy Fawk. Then his tools. He has every tool Sonic tools makes. WHY? Talks about his 3/4" drive set...Like you are really going to need that "wrenching" on your Porsche. His 17( exaggerating here) torque wrenches. All of his Milwaukee tools, that he doesnt really use..

He was on the "Oil and Whiskey" podcast and, while very boring and self aggrandizing, he talks about his struggles with OCD. He also talks about building his business, then says something weird about not wanting to hire ambitious or entrepreneurial employees, only dumb rule followers which was very off putting. He honestly strikes me as someone with control issues more than a spectrum/adhd/ocd problem. Either way, he's obviously talented at merchandising/marketing.

Its a developmental issue... my 4YO (soon to be 5) dosen't have mental health issues thats totally different.

I was a software engineer for a major defense contractor for almost 10 years before turning my back to the SCIF life for a tool box. One of my government contacts i had to deal with weekly was this really odd AF LTC that was a graduate of the AF Academy. I once told a co worker of mine "this dude is really out there he has to be somewhere on the spectrum" he got kind of serious and said "your an engineer working with a whole floor of engineers that argument could easily be made about all of us.

Dont think I am upset with you by any means but really look into what high functioning autism is. Autistic people tend to hyper focus on things and learn EVERYTHING about it. Look at some of the people on here that literally have the SO catalogs of all years memorized for no reason or the guys that literally know every detail down to the time cards about vise companies that closed 100 years ago. But it goes further then that, Autistic people tend to have higher understanding of numbers and science... think about some of the best machinest you have ever met tend to be very odd guys. Another thing I have learned is how affects motor skills most noticeable with handwriting. How many doctors and engineers have you met over the years with terrible handwriting...

If I remember right your an aeronautical engineer so hopefully you understand.

I actually enjoy watching him and don't find his behavior that odd. He doesn't let money get in the way of what he wants and throws it around like confetti! I'm not sure if that will catch up with him or not but he isn't going to die wondering about something that he didn't try huh?

I've watched some of his stuff and I'd say he's...obsessed. It is the O in OCD.

His videos are quite sterile looking, and the personality is lacking from the garage. It looks like the doctor's office version of a garage. Less than 1 minute into this video: Why Most Tool Kits ****... So We Made Our Own he mentions his Amex Platinum and Gold. At 1:30 he calls himself a psychopath...I guess its been a while since I watched him last. His videos have become quite dull.

Found OG when I was digging into pressure washer setups and hose reels for detailing. I have an odd respect for how he chases an experience out his products. He looks at everything in the garage under that same lense and while it may seem over the top there is something to be said about the perfect experience evennif its somewhat subjective.

He even breaks that down into tiers and you can do kits or piece meal. I ended up doing a tool grid setup after seeing how he organized his boxes. His garages looks like they never get used enough to really get dirty? But cant argue with how capable they look.
