That's funny, I've never really thought about it until you mentioned it, but in terms of Craftsman I'm used to the red/clear being a flat or phillips screwdriver and the all clear handles being torx drivers.

My craftsman all the clears are Phillips and all the red are flat tip. So being used to that, the half week I'm at dads house every time I open drawer I just grab clear handle when I need Philips than I get halfway to wherever and realize it.

The one on the left was a special purchase screwdriver. In the 1980's & 1990's Sears would often have boxes of screwdrivers that would be on sale for .99 to a $1.50 a pop. The handles ranged from solid red, orange, to clear as pictured.
It's not a factory defect.

Yes - it would bother me greatly. I do actually have Craftsman phillips and slotted with the exact same handles (like each other - not like yours) - this was before the blue at the base of the handle. FYI - my torx have a black base and a clear handle as opposed to the phillips which have a blue base and a clear handle.

I started my tool collection in the mid to late 80s while in college. I had always used dad's tools and it never dawned on me I'd need my own. He had a massive collection and could do anything from electronics to automotive.

I started with Craftsman.

As fed wrench stated they would occasionally have big boxes where you could get a deal on single screwdrivers. I got a few rather large slotted screwdrivers. To this day they are still my favorite big screwdrivers.

Yeah the handles would bother me too. The way I try to keep my box is all the handles for Phillips on the left side with blades pointed in and slotted on right with blades pointed in. Looking at handles makes it easy to sort.

I have my most used screwdrivers in the holes in my service cart. I got most out of the above referenced boxes & didn't pay attention to the handles at the time but it definitely helps when the blade isn't visible.

My CM screwdrivers are from Western Forge (WF) where both slotted and phillips are the same color - clear and blue.

IIRC; black is #3 robertson, red is #2 robertson, green is #1 robertson, and yellow is #0 robertson. I have no idea about philips, the only place they should be used is drywall screws because the driver can cam out so easy.

Nope not really, I have different brands so looking at handles would never work, I have them separated in different drawers but if I started over I would do like TheGrooveking

I have so many screwdrivers that all the phillips are in one drawer and all the slotted are in another. Completely eliminates confusion lol.

yeah they did that, I used to have a few, they also came in black. They seemed to be the same drivers but maybe they were 2nds with wrong handle or just purging the molding machines and using up leftover colors. I also had some of the flat blade screwdrivers that have round shanks instead of square, but I kept those.

but I'm with others, it bothered me and I swapped them all out except the round shake flat blades...

That's why I keep my screwdrivers in my divided 3 section drawer. Phillips on left, hooks, picks, pry bars, in middle and flat heads on the right.

My toolbox has so many varieties of screwdrivers I grab for the right size based on location. Now nut drivers with non standard colorings drive me nuts.
