Does this Craigslisting for a Snap On box suspicious?

I've been looking for smaller Snap On box like this one, I believe it is a KRA 2106 (although I don't know too much about Snap On boxes).

There are some things I find suspicious about this box. The seller is listing the box as a Classic 60 and says he bought it as a "display in his bedroom." Really? People do that? And, how is it you legitimately buy a Snap On box and don't know the model? He's listing it as a Classic 60, but is a KRA 2106.

Do you fellas who know Snap On think this offer is a good deal? I don't want to end up with a stolen box or a lead pipe across my head picking the item up.

It's not a classic 60. I'll give the guy a break, that box is discontinued so he may have just guessed when looking it up. Follow me on this. The heritage lind is kra4xxx. Classics are kra2xxx. For a few years, SO had a value line of the heritage, also kra2xxx. Same basic box as a kra4xxx, but cheaper slides, casters, locks and different drawer arrangements. His price is just another example of kra's being way over valued by the seller.

You know while most anything that's sold used can be stolen, all you can really do is ask for the serial and call up snap-on if you're so inclined. Most people who buy stuff like containers and furniture don't really care.

As far as the pricing, that's not really all that cheap. A LOT and I mean A LOT of these like newer looking / hardly used boxes were purchased through the school program for 55-60% off. The students never even made it out of the program let alone brought the box into an actual work environment.

When I was making silly money I dropped $12k+ on sound system for the living room. Had I been into tools the way I am now, I would've bought an EPIQ for the entertainment center. Serious.

I think it's legit. And I know a handful of mechanics with KRLs and EPIQs that have no idea what the model # is. They tell the driver they want a ********* or green box, and the driver says, "ok, that's $11k." They say "Ok".

And the seller probably didn't want to pull it away from the wall and look at tag due to laziness.

Or...it is a scam. But if you pick up in person you'll know for sure.

Scam is a real possibility. That happened to me last week, emailed about an item and got a response "I just sold it, but you can buy more at this auction site..."

I wouldn't have any problem with that. As far as getting robbed I'm not worried about that either. Not many places I go without a gun or have someone with me to help load and watch my back.

Sounds legit, probably bought new via a student program or the like for somewhere around if not less than that.

Funny, you living in NY, I would think that would be hard to do (East coast gun laws ****) :lol_hitti

Nothing compared to the small arsenal I can own here in TX.....

As for the box. I had to double take when I read "Bought it as a display for my room", but I am wagering to bet it is just a student that is selling off his school stuff when he flunked out.

Only hard to do in New York City....which I avoid at all costs.

That box was never that much. If I remember they were $1855 when we bought them for work. Educational discount pit them at $1100 each and because we bought a dozen of them we got them for $1000 each.

I suspect he bought it on educational discount and finds that he doesn't need it
