Does this even exist? Jackstand adaptor?

Both of our cars have pinch welds to use a sissor jack.. I think most cars have this...

I have an adaptor for my jack that can lift the car via the pinch welds (even though I don't use it because I use the two jack point in the center and rear of the cars.... However when I use jackstands they are shaped like a U/V instead of the nice small width of the pinch weld.

However I am looking for that above BUT instead it going into the saddle of the jack would prefer it to be on jack stand?

Does such a thing even exist? It pretty much comes down to piece of mind I guess.. I've never had an issue with support the car with 4 ton jack stands but I like how the above cradles the pinch welds and having 4 of those would be really nice....

A lot of jack stands have that U/V shape to center that pinch weld, I'm not sure why that would not be sufficient?

Every car or truck I've ever owned has had jack points in the owner's manual. The scissor kind that go where the body seam is are literally only for changing a tire, so the operator doesn't have to lay on the ground to reach the real jack point. I've seen the scissor points bend and cause bulging in the fenders on some late nineties Camaros.

No, the jack points are the two circles, one in roughly the centerline of the rear axle, and one just forward of the centerline of the front, probably on an engine cradle.

A sideways jack stand might work fine just on the inside of the pinch welds, but I wouldn't straddle the pinch weld with one. I'd **** it up against it from the inside.

I see so many cars with lift damage its really annoying.

Not all cars are the same, some may be designed to be lifted at a pinch weld, but plenty only have a half dozen safe spots to lift from.

Never had a problem putting jack stand on pinch weld.

If you are worried, you can get soft top jack stands or jack stand cover.

Any lifting object or jackstand on the pinch-welded apron can collapse the metal, seen it many times. The worst in some examples is having contact with the door opening and closing from damage on the door jamb (i.e. Volkswagen Beetles). What model vehicle are you looking to buy adapters for?

Good question. The jack points are absolutely the pinch welds on many vehicles, this one in particular. Even if you pick up the whole front end (and many cars have no easy way to get the front end lift point) you still are left with the pinch welds for jack stands. I remember seeing some jack stand adapters for pinch welds when I did some searching.


At this point, I think the best solution is to get some hard rubber from McMaster Carr or a Hockey puck and cut a slot in it to receive the pinch weld. You would need the AC or Easco copy flat top stands to do this. I agree that putting jack stands under that little narrow pinch weld is not a good idea. It will mangle the welds if nothing else.

I think it i didn't explain what I do.

I jack the car up using the center jack points. I would like to use the pinch weld adaptors in the actual jackstands though to support the car rather than using the normal jack stand end which is shaped like a U... it doesn't support the pinch weld very well compared to the picture above.

I had designed an adapter just for this purpose about 7-8 years ago. I'm really surprised nobody makes one yet!
