It's in my blood.
Yesterday afternoon I was milling through a bin labelled "Misc." at the local pawn shop. During this time I came across this little guy you see in the photos.

At first I thought it was some sort of funky adapter/connector for an air hose.

No part numbers, nor mfg markings are seen.

Does anyone know what I've got here in my hands?

Is it a pneumatic item? Hydraulic? Something else?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Tire chuck fitting. The lever grabs the threads on the shrader valve.

Old R12 A/C charge adaptor. If I remember correctly it allowed you to put the fitting on your gauges and the (nut) on the charge port on the vehicle. Might have also served as a no loss or minimal loss of Freon while disconnecting.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's an AC adapter too.

Gents, you have helped immensely. Thank you everyone for your input.

Cheers!

doesn't look like any air chuck I've ever used, does look like the one end pushes a schrader valve open. I'm in the A/C tool camp or maybe to connect to a fuel rail

It's either A/C charging or fuel pressure testing. I'd lean towards fuel pressure but could be either.

My Snap On fuel pressure tester has them in 2 sizes for the Schrader type test ports, It's very likely they are the same part used on A/C equipment. You can replace the internal O rings with a flat blade screwdriver

That one has the 1/4 flare thread so it's for A/C work. I still have one I haven't used it in several years. It was a quick connect for A/C work and like someone said it was for R12.
